Has anyone heard from him lately? Sold him some Beta II's and extended terms due to his financial situation and need to make contact. He sold two of them here in September just after he took them from me and was hoping he could pass along those funds to complete our sale.

Thanks.

so let me get this straight... he bought them from you after you said "pay me later", and then turned around and sold them to someone else.. ?

Ps, he does have active ads.

The 'deal' was that Sept. 22 he would take the 4 Beta II speakers home and try them. If he did not want to keep them he was to return them. If he kept them he would pay in October when a big consulting check was due. Or $100 a month. SHould have been paid by year end.

Sept 29 he had this ad: http://www.canuckaudiomart.com/details/ ... sb_beta_ii and sold 2 speakers for $125.

His first payment to me was $50 Dec. 4 only after emails asking for payment as promised. He gave me nothing from the Sept. 29 $125.

Then $50 Dec. 22, again on Jan. 27, then quiet for a month to an email sent Jan. 28 asking for the remainder.

Feb 27 he emailed that I was being unreasonable. Quote: "I live on a pension & what you ask is not only unreasonable, but not possible!" 5 months into this.

Feb. 23 I offered to pick them up if he could not afford them. I still was not aware he had sold 2 of the 4.

Silence.

Feb. 27 emailed asking for a reply.

Silence. All of March, nothing.

March 12 I discovered the sale dated one week after he took them.

April 1 morning I emailed asking "What's the latest?", left voice mail on his number. Emailed him a copy of his post ( http://www.audiokarma.org/forums/showth ... p?t=323204 ) asking for help with wiring up the speakers (and getting it). His signature lists the speakers as his.

April 1 afternoon... a transfer of $100 arrived with no note or comment.

So I am still out $50 from Sept. 22.

It was the silence that is most annoying.

Lived... learned... situation normal I guess. He had me fooled.

Being out $50 ain't so bad considering the circumstances - I do avoid anyone who wants to pay 'on consignment'.

Live and learn indeed.

To be fair to Larry, he starting communicating yesterday and advises he will pay the last $50 at the end of the month.
Whether it was this post, the phone call or the emails... he started talking.

I have done a couple of "nice guy" deals like this.
Usually works out.

Without the drama.

Update: April 27 2011 I received the last remaining cash owed. So after 7 months instead of 1 month I have it all. He had no regrets or apologies. Just no money.

If you have no money, you don't need to buy speakers. Unless my math is wrong, we are talking about $125. Geez, it seems that old Larry should get his act together.

I've got no money but I bought another set of speakers lately off of ebay. This audio addiction is worse than crack (I would imagine). :P

Yes Albert, but I am sure that you paid for them in full ... you didn't owe money on them, then sell them and pocket the money ... at least I assume not.

Yeah, you got me there. I did pay for them up front and didn't stiff anybody for the cash. If he sold them, then he should have had money to finish paying for them.

I missed the boat on these I was going to buy them but waited too long. Sorrry you had to deal with all the drama from the other gentleman I`m still kicking myself in the butt. Oh well the early bird does indeed get the worm but sometimes you just have to watch the birds you are dealing with.

If someone can't pay you $100 for your item(s) then it is likely not a great idea to give them to them. Seems like common sense. Just saying.

Agreed. Someone that tight on money shouldn't even be buying inessential things to survive, such as speakers
