Hi,

Has anyone ever purchased something for a private seller and had it shipped?

How is payment and shipping usually arranged and how do you ensure product is shipped or payment is made.

Thanks

What exactly do yo mean by private seller?

How is/was communication carried out?

With all online transactions you pays yer money any you take yer chances.

You can check feedback on a user, and see if they are a regular on the forums.

CAM is a pretty sweet group of folks, and we look after each other, if there is a shady seller around, they usually dont last long.

There is also a thread on known scammers that you may want to check out.

That's what CAM is for, buying and selling with private sellers and buyers, although some are dealers. You can pay with e-interact, PayPal,money order, etc. communicate via emails or phone. Shipping / Tracking by tracking numbers.

Nothing like a phone call between buyer and seller to provide that extra margin of comfort.

All the time.

I've only done one face to face sale, every other purchase and sale has been online only, other than buying from a bricks and mortar dealer.

After the negotiations are over, I always send one final email explaining the deal in detail, and ask for confirmation from the seller that they agree with each point. Once they say yes, I send them the money right away as a sign of good faith on my part. I insist and will pay extra to have an item shipped with tracking so I can keep tabs of it until it arrives. Maybe I've been lucky, but so far after multiples purchases and sales I've never been scammed.

They Binky, You pose a very interesting exercise. Although I feel a bit like a stocker after doing this.

I think would buy from you without concern. Firstly I checked to see the number of ads you have had recently. It appears you are quite the enthusiast. This tell me you take care of your stuff and knows enough to not sell me garbage. I then went on to check your feed back. I can see that there are a good number of responses. I continued to read the responses and look at the profiles of the responders. The first few we quite bare and some "could not be found" this was alarming but after a while I found profiles from others with a good number of adds and a positive feed back.

How did I do?

I trusted the last two sellers and just mailed cash to cover the items and shipping. Maybe not the smartest thing to do but they had good rep so I was fine with it. I received my items all well.

It starts with trust...and you build from there based on feedback. Takes some time to get a good reputation...generally I will not put much effort or trust in a new member that has zero feedback and will not call

It takes longer when people forget to rep.
