:!: Bose automotive audio equipment is a proprietary manufacturer
specific design in most instances . Mercedes engineers have "ordained"
the quality level of parts and resulting performance that Bose must
design in order to satisfy Mercedes threshold of quality.
The same is relatively true of every car maker in the industry
that subscribes to the Bose "mantra'.
That being said, we find a somewhat altered concept of the Bose
paradigm within the General Motors Bose option packages . Here,
we find in the more recent GM models ; Denso-Bose arrangements.
A 2009 Yukon for example , may only have a Bose speaker package while
the head unit is purely Denso. Sub woofers are buried in the console
and do little to enhance the sound .This unholy matrimony of GM's
Denso electronics and Bose allows GM to skimp on quality parts from
the speakers to internal components . The GM /Bose tweeters are shrill
and fatiguing while if replaced with Bose tweeters from a Mercedes
there is a noticeable difference in the quality of sound. With Mercedes,
The Bose system is of the highest quality in every aspect . If still unsatisfied
with the bass from an ML dual ported sub -based upon the Wave Radio design;
Try using an Accoustimas V sub (from your Accoustimas HT system .-
Prepare for an earthquake!. I would hasten to agree however ,that given the
choice, Harman Kardon is now the front runner in Factory car audio systems
Your new ML Bluetec comes fully equipped and uncompromised with the Harman Kardon
audio system.

I agree, I have heard the Bose premium in some Audi, and Mercedes and they sound really really good. I believe that the German engineers had something to do with that, and not the same product in the GM's for sure. My system is the Bose premium and sounds very good and clear detailed surround sound. i can open it up all the way with no distortion. I listen to jazz, brazilian rhythms and easy listening pop and classical. Im not looking for 1000 watts. I just need a touch more bass to give a little more depth.

Im going to try your option of using another BOSE subwoofer from the ML or even this 10" design...can you send me a link of the one you were specifically mentioning. thanks

Interesting discovery i made while surfing: Many big companies have dropped BOSE.

I am shocked and stunned.

Perhaps the shareholders of those aforementioned automakers forced the marketing executives to actually listen to those systems. Bleeding ears can be very persuasive.

Blose: irrefutable proof that marketing, hype & promotion can trump actual value and performance.

For the record, I have the "premium" Bose system in my Pathfinder and it's just OK. But that's fine because I don't spend enough time in the car to warrant an upgrade.

I think, therefore I am not sure.
