Just watched an show on the Mercedes-Benz SLR MCLAREN, a $500,000.00 super car. One of the features is it's Bose sound system. Do they know something the rest of us don't about Bose.

My Nissan Maxima has a Bose system. It has one terrific sounding setting......OFF.

Based on the volume of car sales world wide, these things are punched out like cookies and they figure that road noise will cancel the short comings.

Cheers

Mike

I have one in my Acura, and I can't change it out because it is most of the dash board. No better than any generic factory deck.

WOW,

You must have had to fight for the Blows. :)

Cauliflower ear is major B$tch.

Hard to believe that people that have that kind of money would want to waste it. Hard to believe that someone asking that kind of money for a car would do such a thing.

Talk about CUTTING costs.

You get what you pay for, lol. Sound is not one of them. But rather the sound of the car.

It's a very strange choice to put such a pedestrian system in such an exclusive car, especially when you consider that much cheaper cars can be had now with Dynaudio, B&W, Levinson and B&O systems.

likewise with Quadzilla, I also have one that came with my Acura, and it takes up most of the dash so I guess it is there to stay. I like the fact that it has both CD and cassette capability, which is convenient, but the sound is nothing to write home about

My Mazda CX7 has a Bose system in it and it basically sucks. Not that it is horrifically bad (I am not a car audio guy) but when I was in my twenties I had an Alpine head unit with Boston 6x9's (no sub or fronts) and that system rocked for car audio. I played a lot of my reference CD's on that system and it sounded great. Comparing my factory installed Bose system to that, well, it's not even close, the Alpine/BA system was heads and tails better than my current Bose system. The Fan 590 sports talk radio sounds pretty good on it though.

As long as none of you guys paid a premium because of the Bose Stereo. :)

Like Quadzilla said, it's no better than any of the generic factory stuff. I'm not a car audio enthusiast either.

Stuffing anyting into a predetermined and non-adjustable small space is going to give you a direct payback to the effort put into it.
Anything in a car is going to reflect the environment, and before car hi-fi(?) guys get going, YOU CANNOT MOVE THE SPEAKERS.

This means the greatest compromise of all, and one that is futile.

Yes, the Blose in my CTS is as bad as the one in my Corvette was.

I have a Speed3 with the "Premium" Bose system complete with 5" sub.

Horrendous waste of dash space.

The very worst feature of this car.

The "engineer" should be forced to listen to this insult to audio.

It's just real good practise to stay away from anything Bose.
