Start with a better amplifier, then swap out the preamp when funds allow

I would agree that the amp and preamp would be the best upgrades for you to look at. your speakers, although a little older are high quality, and the sub setup should be able to keep up as long as you're not looking for massive subsonic output. the impact from the PB12+/2 alone makes LFE really entertaining.

I've been updating my HT as well, and the switch from a Marantz receiver to Anthem had a big impact, and I am very pleased with the change. (SR8002 to MRX1120)
A note on emotiva, a while back I tried some of their amps but found them boring, sort of flat and lifeless. I went back to the internal amps in my Marantz receiver and sent them back...

All that gear in a 13x16 room I think you're good.
4 walls and a ceiling of drywall on studs makes one giant bass absorber. No punch.
Probably sounds quite midrangey.Try deadening the room a little.

Just a thought.

Wow thanks guys for your recommendations! Ive just tried my older denon avr3310 with my veritas, as a receiver and as a prepro with my emotiva power amp. Ok.... Denon have more “life” in the sound, more bass, higher notes. The bass is heavy but not tight, the high are... good but not crisp. Denon as the processor gives me less but tighter bass. The tweeters seems less brighter but with ok definition. The denon in general gives me a better overall sound in movies but the sound is all mixed up, I can’t say where the plane came from in the movie, there’s a big lack of definition there. So... where I should start? Receiver? Amp? Processor? Just came across anthem mrx520 in another forum, should it be better than my emotiva kit? Thanks for taking your time :-)

The Veritas speakers and SVS sub are very nice equipment. Although I do believe those speakers like good clean power to really come to life, not sure your budget but Bryston pre and power amps come to mind. I added a 4bst to my system about a year ago and love the results! Been searching for an affordable (for me) pre to come along.
