I want to buy steve Hackett genesis revisited, but there are 2 version I am interested,
live at hammersmith or
live at royal albert hall
both of them dvd have all the same song ( same show I guess) just different places,
I know usually at the albert hall show usually sound very good.
my question is does anybody have these dvd and are they 5.1 and which is the best sounding one, of the 2.

I have both as CD/DVD packages.

Royal Albert Hall is 2 CDs and 1 DVD.

Hammersmith is 3 CDs and 2 DVD's. The second DVD is a 37 minute behind the scenes documentary.

I have not visited them in a number of months but my recollection is that they both sounded quite good.

Both concert DVD's are in surround sound. Doesn't seem to be any indication on the Albert Hall package indicating SS but I just popped it in a DVD player and the menu did show a SS selection.

When I watched them I only listened in two channel.

Hope this helps.......

Hi,don't have either, but both look to be a Dynamite concerts, and I'll buy both in a heart beat,if they come anywhere near me!
I have all the old Genesis on cd,Keepers for sure, but only one Phil Collins concerts on a revolving stage!
I have 2 of Peter Gabriel,again Keepers.

I looked & the majority are great reviews on Amazon, that's what I do,look it up on Amazon, then read all their respective reviews, decide from there.

My Pansonoic dvd mixes it down to 2 ch,which I prefer, sold off my SS receiver years ago.
Altec 19's for concerts are like being there,LIVE!

Add to that every concert I have at Royal Albert Hall are 'Keepers',all exceptional, the Moody Blues,Joe Bonamasa,Cream,David Gimour & the Coors.
Go For it,treat yourself for CANADA Day!
Altec Concert Kenny

I will try out the albert hall version, now that I know it is 5.1 I think it should sound great, and it should be a great early genesis music concert, I always dream of a lamb lies down on broadway show in surround sound, it should be amazing. and I don't really care for the cd s or backstage visit,i only care for surround sound show, it is the best way to go for me. thank you guy s

well just got my steve Hackett at royal albert hall , and I am very disappointed, performance wise it is not bad, I would give it a 3.5 out of 5 , as for sound I would give it a 3, and I am generous. I listen to the 4.1 mixe , hawfull, the man that did the surround mixes should be fired, this is my 3 rd dvd from the man , the first oner was just plain stereo, the second one was just 4.0 with not much bass, and now this royal albert hall, man was e on heavy stuff or something, the guy who did the mix send all deep bass to the front 2 main speaker, with hardly anything sent to the actual LFE channel???
at first I tried to correct the problem by going into my tone control( something I never add to do in the last 10 year)
I tried to drop the bass by 3 D/B , still way to loud so I tried 6 D/B and still way to much bass under 60 hz in the front.
so I add to go another way, so I put my front from full range to 50 hz was much better but still little too much bass, so I put it to 60 hz and now that deep bass is gone all to the sub. it was the only way I could listen to it .
seems like steve Hackett sound ingeneer who does the surround mix for him have a big problem with bass. first 2 dvd no bass or hardly any, and this one now way too much bass in the 2 front channel and nothing hardly sent to LFE channel .
so he don t like center channel , and don t want to use is LFE channel adequately.
please mister Hackett, change your soundcrew next time you want to do a dvd, and hire a real suround specialist to mix your next dvd. I hate that when they use somebody that don t know what to do with those extra channel, some says 5.1 but in fact use only the 2 front channel??? dum dum
now I don t know if I should buy ,is other genesis revisited, it is all the same soungs, BUT I would like to hear from somebody who as that live at hammersmith dvd . to see if the surround mixe is ok with adequate LFE channel effect, and good balance sound on all channel .

I've not heard a good sounding concert DVD yet. I only ever buy blu-ray concerts now.

I have this on pre-order:
http://www.blu-ray.com/movies/Steve-Hac ... ay/155457/

If its anything like his recent concert that I saw at the Casino Lac-Leamy in Gatineau, it should be awesome.

I have undreds of good sounding dvd , but I have yet to find a good sounding 5.1 steve Hackett.
i see he is flooding the market with a hole bunch of new release of the same show, just like joe bonnamassa, he flood the market with a hole bunch of release, they should concentrate on one release, but a good sounding one. I bought the last 3 bonnamassa release lately, and only one was worth it, the royal albert hall. that is why I took a chance with steve Hackett at royal albert hall, but I am very disappointed with the surround track, the stereo one is ok I guess, if you are not to critical.
do you know what kind of audio format this live in Liverpool as , and have you heard it. please let me know how it sound, if it as a surround mixe.
I see it says 4.1 dts hd, but it is not the genesis revisited show. I bought it because he plays some old genesis song that are hard to find on dvd or bluray in surround sound.
if you want a good genesis , buy when in Rome, excellent sound, dts 5.1 even on dvd, it sound amazing. I have many dvd that sound just as good as many bluray,
