Even though I watched this on a jetliner I must add that this movie sounds fantabulous. Maybe it was the Mill Street lagers I was swilling, or maybe just maybe it was the Bose noise-cancelling headphones I was wearing, but it was one of the most enjoyable audio events of my life. So be sure to give this flick a good cranking...

Disappointing. Not really an insight into the creative process. The music plays a small part in the movie from my perspective and seems to concentrate heavily on Miles trying to score and retrieve a stolen master tape. To be honest I was bored by it. Cheadle played a great Miles mind you.

It is by no means a 'bio-pic'. Those hoping to see one are sure to be disappointed. Remember the Ray Charles bio-pic 'Ray'? Totally the opposite.

Hollywood seems to have been pretty carefree lately about getting facts right about famous people...makes for a good story I guess, though I'd imagine Miles had a ton of interesting stories he could have told ;)
I am stoked, I just saw this site (and I think it's playing TIFF):

Chet Baker movie coming out soon. Another jazz great. imho.

'Born To Be Blue' at TIFF last year.Showing now at TIFF Lightbox.Ethan Hawke as Baker......read the reviews before making a decision on this one.

....and thanks Stone for the trailer.

I don't like Ethan Hawke, let alone for that part. Christian Glover would have been a better choice. He looks abit like Chet and especially if he's a jazz lover, he would kill the part Im sure.

I want to see it but currently I'm listening through the tv speakers. As soon as I get that issue resolved I'll be watching it somewhat loudly.

Like you, I'm not a fan of Ethan Hawke either.

But I thought he did a very convincing job playing Chet in this pic.

Ethan Hawke did an excellent job portraying Chet, IMO. As for Crispin (not Christian) Glover, thanks, but no thanks! I just can't stand the guy - he was great as Marty McFly, sure, but that was a joke role...I just can't take the guy seriously in just about anything he's done...

Hawke doesn't have great range but he's a master at introspective/intellectual ...Glover was also very good in River's Edge...but that was many moons ago...
