Have always been a Miles fan.
Hope the movie does him some justice.

Very excited about this. .....

It's been in the works for a while and I think there were some financial challenges getting it made. I was a bit concerned that it was indicated that the story was going to take place during that period of inactivity in the late 70's but the trailer seems to show many different periods so it looks like the prior history of this brilliant artist is being told......

...I might even have to drag myself out to an overly loud movie theatre for this one.......

Honestly, I'd prefer a good doc about Miles rather than another Hollyweird BS-fest where they sensationalize the story to sell tickets (which is what I get from the trailer, but then again, that's what trailers are for).

Of the top of my head, two examples of jazz movies where this also was the case: Bird and Lady Sings the Blues. Both had only a passing acquaintance with reality. Mostly, they reflected white stereotypes about black folks.

That this one is written and directed by (and, of course, stars) Don Cheadle gives me some hope!

BTW, the autobiography that Miles wrote is worth a read.

The trailer looks like a huge disappointment.

For starters any serious docudrama of Miles Davis should start out being .... serious ... not some simple mix of safe Hollywood formulas looking more like odd mix of gangster/rock star/romance/comedy/gods know what packaging attempting to have some appeal to just about anyone.

... and what's with the white boy team up ... just sad for anyone who has even passing interested in jazz with concept of the times, places, the condition ...

2 thumbs down .... spend the money on a Terry Teachout book ... interested in list of other 1/2 decent jazz writers if anyone has some

Looks interesting. Sensational of course, but that's Hollywood for you. Cheadle's a brilliant actor, which is reason alone to watch it. Hard to believe it's the same actor in Out Of Sight and Hotel Rwanda...a true chameleon.

Trailer doesn't say when it's being released?
