A really incredible blu ray for the total HT experience.

Battleship. (2012)
A military science fiction flic.
Non stop action with a great soundtrack. Some great tunes thrown in at the right time.
Starring Taylor Kitsch, Liam Neeson, Rihanna. Yes, Rihanna.

Hehe, I will admit to enjoying Battleship as well. I know critics and most of the public hated it but it was a fun ride IMO.
The PQ and AQ are reference!

I watched a really good one this weekend.

The Last Stand.
Arnold Schwarzenegger at his best. Small town sheriff who does not back down.
Great flic.

Enjoyed Last Stand as well, great picture, sound and a fun action flick!
The latest Die Hard is not a good movie IMO, but the sound is superb!!! Took my SVS sub to levels I did not know it was capable of :D

Battleship. (2012)

Just skip the first 20 minutes, the rest of the movie is quite entertaining. :)

OK, here we go!!!! :D
I had a Robert Rodriguez weekend.
2 great films.

1st, Planet Terror, (Part of a double bill by Grindhouse Presents, the second film is Deathproof by Quentin Tarantino)
2007, directed by Robert Rodriguez. An action, horror, science-fiction film.
Starring Rose McGowan, Freddy Rodriguez, Josh Brolin, Marley Shelton, Naveen Andrews, Michael Biehn, Jeff Fahey, Stacy Ferguson, Bruce Willis, and Quentin Tarantino.
Old Style 1970's cinematography, with total audio and visual insanity.
Rose McGowan (Cherry Darling) is the standout of this film, IMHO. This picture of Rose from the movie is now my Laptop background pic. Great background 8)

2nd, Machete. 2010, directed by Robert Rodriguez. (Machete pronounced with a hard CH) 8)
Starring my 2nd favorite Hispanic actor Danny Trejo. This film is not for the "Date night or chick flic scene"
A great cast starring, Danny Trejo, Robert De Nero, Jessica Alba, Don Johnson, Michelle Rodriguez, Steven Segal, Cheech Marin, Jeff Fahey, and last but not least, Lindsay Lohan. Oh, and 2 Mexican sisters that are to die for.
An Action Exploitation film. That's all I am going to say.
I know these films are not for everybody, but for the HT and the insanity, I am there every time.
Enjoy. :D

Machete was great! The other one was not for me but looking at your screen shots, maybe I should give it another try!

Machete 2 is supposed to be in the works as well.

Last week I bought the Snitch Blu Ray. Not that great a movie IMO but the couple of shoot outs and chase scenes looked and sounded great.

If by "Best Bluray for HT", I will discuss the sound & picture NOT story quality!
Here are my suggestions

1) Pacific Rim
2) U571
3) Master & Commander

Each of these will exercise your surround speakers with lots of explosions (blowed up, blowed up real good--John Candy), water splashing, etc.

The recent Tron remake is pretty great too, both visually and aurally.

Agree Tron Legacy is an outstanding demo disc for Video and especially for audio.

We've been using Fury Road alot more recently as well as a DCP (digital cinema package, much higher quality than blu ray, its what gets sent to movie theatres) of Back To The Future. The 2 old mainstays stick, Oblivion and Tron Legacy + Black Hawk Down & Saving Private Ryan

Oh and theres a scene in Mr Brooks, a gun fight in a hallway that is sonically mindblowing (and ear splitting), a series of maybe 4 or 5 gunshots which outshine almost anything I've ever heard in terms of actually conveying the horrifyingly loud sound of a gun discharged inside.
