I have bought some albums from Sunrise Records, some of the records are really high priced, almost close to $50.00 plus heart by pass.

I am writing to find out if there is another source of buying new vinyl, who have better and competitive prices.

BTW, I have been told by the cashier at SR that they are going to open Eighty ( 80 ) new stores across Canada.

What was the quality of the vinyl....the label? A MOFI Lp was around $25 by the end of the'70s, a CBS Half Speed Master was $20.

I seem to recall a huge increase in the price of vinyl was announced by the labels last year some time, especially US vinyl. $50 is not a bad deal if the quality is there, but so much these days is barely passable at any price.

London Drugs too, I have compared prices with Sunrise and for the most part been very close. For instance the new Roger Waters was about 56$ at either..was expecting it to be a tad cheaper at LD.

the pop culture vulture in Oakville has a great selection of used and a very good selection of new lp's. they had multiple copies of the new roger waters lp for $50 last week.
if you join the (free) club, you get 10% off used lp's.

There is a surprising spread in prices between stores for new vinyl. This, despite the fact that for the most part all of the stores in the GTA buy from the same distributor. It isn't uncommon to see a 20% difference in pricing.

FWIW, by far the cheapest new vinyl prices I've come across are in Montreal. I've shopped the GTA, Calgary, Halifax, and many of the stores in the Golden Horseshoe and Montreal was hands down the best.

As an aside, while the selection at Sonic Boom is excellent, I find the prices high. You can do better in the GTA.

Not likely that most CAMers would appreciate that fare.
