...the other thread is about purchases but some have referred also to gifts...which got me thinkin' :D

My first 3 Lps were gifts from my mom...they were:

22 Explosive Hits (K-Tel)
Elton John's Greatest Hits
Jesus Christ Superstar

...your first Lp gifts?

In 73'-74' My dad leased the upper chalet at Dagmar ski resort, he just partied lots with the "solo parents association" (kinda a buffet for him given the ratio 10 men - 200 women)...
Anyhow ya don't make much dough partying,,,I had to deliver many Toronto Stars to pay for the sound system from the dance floor when we moved back to T.O. ...
As an added bonus I was given all the 45's, too many to list but suffice it to say there was a lotta Disco...

I hope you saved them and mounted them in gold frames as family heirlooms.

I remember the first year my mother bought any of us LP's. My two brothers got Black Sabbeth and Jimi Hendricks and I received ........ Wait for it............ An album full of Scottish Bagpipe music.
Still have it by the way, you wouldn't believe how good it's condition is either ( almost like it's never been played ).

A UK Parlophone pressing of Help! back in 1966 from my older sister who worked on a freighter at the time and picked it up during a stop in England. Have no clue whatever happened to it but wish I still had it.

My first record was an album of "scary" stories. Scared the crap out of me, my brother and sisters, but I don't remember anything else about it.

This one was given to me for Christmas when I was 10 or 11.

MJ and his rat. Hahaha

My mother was pretty clever. She 'gifted' me a Columbia membership, for which she took credit for 11 'free' LPs. Then I got stuck purchasing the runout on the contract obligation....

The worst part was the time they didn't have what I ordered, so they filled it with a James Last LP.
