There a very popular thread on the latest LP pickups.
I thought I would start one for CD's, SACD's.
I just picked up two amazing SACD titles.
Donovan..Stoyteller.. A Steve Hoffman remaster.
All I can say is ..amazing. The acoustic guitar and voicals sound so real.
It sounds like Donovan is in my music room.
The other title is the SHM SACD of The Rolling Stones..Sticky Fingers.
Expensive but...it is, in my opinion, the best sounding CD / vinyl release of this title.

But, but, but why would anyone want Donovan in their music room?  8) :?

I can say is ....WOW.
They really did this one right.
The unreleased stuff is great and they have done a great mix.
The guitars really shine.

That's great!! I was thinking of pulling the trigger on that set. One thing though, isn't there a lot of versions of the same songs? Just from different nights?
I find the original Allman Brothers Fillmore CD's were kind of muddy sounding. Is that improved?

For the most part they are repeating the sets but the differences in the lead breaks are really interesting.
I don't think they played the songs the same way twice.
The unreleased version of You Don't Love Me from Disc One is mind blowing good.

T'was half price day at the Goodwill today so picked up some CD's (the horror, the horror  ) as there was no decent vinyl and generally hasn't been for a long time.

So for $1.50 each picked up:

The Commitments (Soundtrack)
Pearl Jam Ten
The B52's Cosmic Thing
Bill Frisell The Intercontinentals
Marcus Roberts Alone With Three Giants

Had lost this thread for some reason ....

This past weekend's sidewalk sale finds:

Still shrink wrapped Madonna's Immaculate Collection and Music CDs
Bryan Adams Waking up the Neighborhood (My copy of the CD went MIA during my move but I still had the case)
Black Eyed Peas Monkey Business .... just because the jacket looked cool
Will Smith Wild Wild West EP
And finally, one I have been looking for ever since it came out in 97, Jean-Jacques Goldman En Passant

$6 for the lot

I really need to be shopping in OBI's neighbourhood but:
I've been wandering through the golden groove yard aka Beats and got:
Maggot Brain-Funkadelic
Framed/Next-The Sensational Alex Harvey Band (a 2 fer)
The Four Horsemen-Nobody Said It Was Easy
The Essential Paul Revere and the Raiders
Planxty
Old, New, Borrowed and Blue-Slade.

I just heard, saw the Lindi Ortega post, she is special. another one for the list.

Thad Jones ~ Detroit/NY Junction (Rudy Van Gelder Edition)
Joanie Sommers ~ Softly, The Brazilian Sound
Humble Pie ~ As Safe As Yesterday (K2HD)

Thanks Albert. The new stuff from Japan was a bit more than $6.00 tho'.....

For what I paid for those five CDs' I could have feasted at the thrift stores for years. But then again I doubt that I would have found any of those versions at a thrift store. Highly unlikely but not impossible I guess.
