I don't know where to find SACDs in Ottawa :( but you can find SACDs here on SACD.net :) with links to amazon websites from around the world:

Compact Music @ 785A Bank Street carries some SACDs and DVD-As mostly in classical. They are stocking lots of new/used vinyl these days. Assuming you have time check out some of the other retailers. CD Warehouse probably has more? Here's a listing of Ottawa area Music stores:

eBay has tons of SACDs.

CD Warehouse on Clyde (1383 Clyde Ave., Nepean, Ontario) has some SACDs and they are almost exclusively classical musics. Also, they mixed up the SACDs with regular red book CDs so it is hard to find something.

I had a good look through there. Fruitless. Worse still- the staff didn't know what a SACD was. They did have the best selection of CD's.

Thank you, I will try Compact Music on my next trip. I really enjoyed The Turning Point on Cooper St. Very helpful owner, clean, excellent lighting (for a change!). Managed to find a few treasures :)

Planet of Sound in Ottawa South usually has 20 - 30 titles on hand.

eBay has 1000s of SACDs.

Are you looking for Jazz, Rock or Classical SACD's ?

If its classical, there are a few titles I could recommend.

On the topic of SACD's, I ordered two Dylan CD's from two different online retailers and both turned out to be SACD's! I now have John Wesley Harding and Bringing It All Back Home on SACD and I think I paid $5.99 each! Lucky, I guess, considering I have, on occasion ordered SACD's and had CD's delivered.

That's great :D I just ordered 2 Elton John (Honky Chateau, Captain Fantastic); a Moody Blues ( EGBDF); and an Allman Bros. (Eat A Peach) from Amazon and was wondering if they might not ship the hybrid SACD versions :(

Haydn Violin Concerti 1 & 4
Rachel Podger
Channel Classics
CCS SA 29309 Hybrid SACD / CD

Podger plays a Gut strung Cremona Violin - with a modern bow - sounds amazing
Great performance and recording
recorded in 2009 - a highly recommended disk
http://www.linnrecords.com/recording-ha ... certi.aspx

Mozart Piano Concerto No. 9 and 25
Alfred Brendal
Philips 470 616-2

For an SACD recording made in 2002, the sound is actually a bit disappointing.
However, this is Brendal at his very best.
I would pick Brendal's No.9 even over Perahia's

Beethoven Piano Sonatas
Rubinstein
RCA Living Stereo
Sony BMG 82876-71619-2

Recorded on analog tape in 1962 / 63, this shows how good an analog to digital transfer can be.
Puts most modern recordings to shame.
Rubinstein's Moonlight the version to have.

There have been a number of Living Stereo recordings recently released on SACD / CD hybrid

If you like Baroque music

Telemann Trios & Quartets
Ensemble Meridiana
Linn CKD 368

The music selection on this disk is excellent - the performance is pretty good.
The quality of this Linn recording is exceptional.

Impossible to find new and even if you did it will be costly. I'm waiting to see if it will be re-issued under the Japanese SHM-SACD. Yes, it won't dirt cheap but it will be much better than paying big bucks for the scalpers.
