The Who -Who's Next on Music On VInyl is an excellent sounding vinyl.

I had been looking for a good pressing of this for years and read on the Steve Hoffman music forums where they much preferred the MOV pressing over UK originals. I found the MOV copy a month ago and now know 1st hand why they were raving about it on the Hoffman forum.

This is a very worth while thread and its about time we had just "one" as a benchmark....How ever if I was to rate my Timber Timbre-Hot Dreams experience I would call it a noisy train wreck while others had great success. So does one example declare an outcome...

Without indicating what pressing it is, I think this is a faulty approach to the thread.
Not your fault but man, I just searched your album on Discogs and came up with 11 different pressings.
Great idea OP but again, we would have to be exact in which copy we are commenting on.

I had no idea an Indie label only 4 years old could have that many pressings .This thread is a great idea but I guess we have to be more specific....

Some recent purchases:

Phoebe Bridgers - Stranger in the Alps
Dead Oceans, US, DOC142
Not very good, listenable but many clicks and occasional pops. Tried 2 copies then gave up.

Chet Baker -Chet
Riverside Records, US, RLP-1135
Terrible. Microphone distortion or something like that in few places. Numerous clicks and pops. Tried 3 copies all with same problems.

The National - Sleep Well Beast
4AD, UK, 4AD0020LPE
Fantastic pressing, on colored vinyl no less. Absolutely quiet and good dynamics (as much as possible in a "modern" recording).

Natalie Prass - The Future and the Past
ATO Records, US, ATO0421
Pretty decent, a few minor clicks but nothing too bad.

I have the National LP as well and am impressed with sound. The only National record I have so cannot comment on any others but this is a good recording and songs are great as well.

1st number represents pressing quality. 2nd number represents sound quality as I imagine it compares to a good pressing & 4 or better means it sounds very good. 6/6 = audiophile grade and competes with the best.

A Night in Tunisia DRL 12041 BMG: 5/4

Really good pressing. Smaller mono soundstage but excellent quality recording. Originally released by RCA on Vik Records in 1958 making it the 1st Art Blakey A Night in Tunisia album. The Blue Note album of the same name came out 3 years later.

Be nice if this thread was about NEW music on new vinyl...

Anyone buy new music within the last couple years that sounds better on vinyl than their digital counterpart?

I haven’t...sure the old stuff sounds good...for the most part it was recorded well enough to begin with...what about NEW music...seriously lacking imo.

The thread is about new purchases on vinyl for those who are interested in it. You could start a new thread rather than hijack.

As good, maybe better than the original pressing which I don’t have so it was nice to get it . Jimmy Page was involved in the remaster . 9/10

Unless everyone cleans their records the same way, I'm not sure this is going to be useful info. Not cleaning a new record almost always results in thin sounding pop corn.

I clean a new LP 3-5 times on a Music Hall with MoFi super record wash, then regular record wash. It's the only thing that gets the junk off new pressings. Have yet to try ultrasonic, but would welcome it if takes less than 3 cleanings to make the vinyl quiet.

I think Lucinda Willaims' "Blessed" is one of the best sounding LPs in my entire collection. The dynamics are stunning as is the music itself.

DISCOGS lists 4 different LP versions of this release...what pressing is yours?

Picked up Chris Stapleton From A Room Vol 1 which is on the Mercury Nashville label. Very quiet and excellent sound.

Listening now to the new U2 - Zooropa (2018 pressing) just released
Cut by Chris Bellman . Sound is 10 out of 10.
What a difference from the cd. This pressing totally blows the cd away. Very quiet pressing, great detail and bass. If you want a great sounding lp, this is it!!!

2nd up is the new 180g The Moody Blues - Long Distance Voyager (2018 pressing)
Cut at Abbey Roads Studios
Another clean silent pressing, excellent sound as well 8/10. Another revelation over the cd version.

I clean everything on an okki nokki, Audio Intelligent #15 cleaner and the it lab grade pure rinse.

Please add some defining information when describing the album such as catalog number, barcode number, vinyl colour if not black, year of reissue, etc. It'll make it alot easier to track down if someone is intrigued enough to try and find a copy of it.
