David Bowie -
'Station To Station' (1976)
https://www.discogs.com/David-Bowie-Sta ... se/4000728
'Low' (1977)
https://www.discogs.com/David-Bowie-Low/release/1671973

Unbelievably, I recently had these two Bowie albums fall into my lap for little or no money. I found 'Station To Station' at Krazy Bob's in Langley for a paltry $9.85. I know, I couldn't believe it either. Over on the Steve Hoffman forum I explained the effect of listening to it thusly: "This ever-elusive LP has finally made it's way to my turntable & I must say that it is a stone-cold masterpiece. This thing is ####ing unreal. Something undefinable & magically surreal exists amongst all the funk & infinitely spaceless beauty that I cannot for the life of me put my finger on, but hypnotizes me all the same." I played the sumbitch over & over for about 3 days. Couldn't take it off the turntable.

And then there's 'Low', which I found left for dead at a local thrift-store for a goddamned dollar, fer chrissakes. Beaten & dirty, it's vinyl showed little hope. But I am happy to report that after a serious cleaning effort, it's playback displays a stunning amount of fidelity & holography, especially Side 2, which IMHO basically creates the future of synthesized 'art-rock'. I mean we all have moments of WTF, but I'm thinking that the cats in Radiohead must have melted down this vinyl & mainlined it, ya dig? Either way, I end up with two wicked Bowie albums for 11 bucks. Must be karma...And that is some sweet, sweet candy...

From recent used record pile. Sorry, but this stuff sounds so much better than mp3's.

It's a hot summer night and as humid as stink here in Southern Ontario! Jazz heads, ole-timey Rockers, Classic-ons and everyone can agree with most of this incredible collection of fun summer tunes. Side one is bloody drop-dead!

Been spinning this for many years and that got me wondering about better reissues. Are there 'WAY BETTER' renderings on vinyl - new or old?
