There are good reports of Belden 8402 two-conductor microphone cable.

Here it is for sale Stateside. These folks also sell made-up interconnects. But there must surely be Canadian sources.

Edit: found cryo-treated 8402 at Take Five Audio, a CAM sponsor!

Oh well then, I have steered you the wrong way in my post above. I apologize.

Belden 8402 is apparently best suited for use as an interconnect cable.

No worries. Should have made myself clear at first place.

I recently got the greatest cable upgrade for my stereo. It is Belden 8402 from Take 5 Audio with Switchcraft 3502A RCA Plugs, and two 6 foot runs of Western Electric speaker wire; 16 ga bright red & red-black, #13385L1. Now, I have replaced my phono SUT interconnect Signal Cable pure silver with Eichman silver plugs with the Belden/Switchcraft combo, and the 9 ga Van Damme/Cardas Banana Plug combo with the WE with NO connectors at the amp end or the speaker end. Nice!! A very nice upgrade for the paltry price of $100.
Cheers, Doug

Doug,
Would you make mad commenting a bit more on the WE speaker cable? What improvements did you notice over your previous wire? Where did you source it?

Thanks.

A few suggestions, Straight Wire Encore ll is very good for about $50 (used) as is Nordhost Black Knight. I paid $50 for a Black Knight about 6 months ago and have found it to be a great sounding cable. Some have said its detailed, but clinical and a bit cool sounding, but that's not my experience with it. I find it full and a bit on the warm side, and yes good detail and transparency. Its also a great cable for phono from pre to amp, low impedance.

Thanks.

It opened up the soundstage, while eliminating a glare that I could not get rid of. It seems to give a smoother presentation, while retaining the grunt and snap I love! It just DOES something that I need more of! I got the wire off Ebay.

I had no idea libor about this combo before I received Jim Smith's quarterly. I must live in an audio cave!
Cheers, Doug

I clicked on this link to read the tutorial on making rca jack style cables but when I clicked on the pic icons it took me to nature shots. I then registered ay AVS and accepted e-mail from the nature shot page but still can't access the tutorial pics of the cables. Can anyone tell me why? TIA, Dave

@Dave_1962, I get the tutorial fine when I click on the link you supplied.

BTW the info at that link dates from a while back. My suggestion would be to follow the instructions given, but use cryo-treated Belden 8402 (from Take Five Audio) as your economy cable, rather than the 85259 from the same company.

Toby, I got the tutorial fine, I could read it. I just couldn't find the pics when clicking on the image icons.

Thanks Dave, I needed the help.

I do see what you mean. Lambs, apparently.

On the tutorial page, the links to the parts sources are outdated. One gets a 404, another is some kind of heavy metal speaker cap. Not the cable parts the OP helpfully wanted to show.

And of course there is the Belden 85259 recommendation, which was current several years ago, but which I have not seen recently.

I think the image links are just too old, like the other links. The pics which were once there are gone into some webmaster's bit bucket. And I think the tutorial is just fine, but the parts and sources need to be updated.
