I'm trying to remember who did do that. I know I read about it somewhere but can't remember the brand. Seems to me it was a even more expensive player.

If memory serves I believe it was either a Lexicon or a Theta CDP. If I had to guess I would say it's the Theta.

Simaudio used Denon AV Receivers for their Surround Processors. Lexicon used Oppo for their universal Blu-ray players. And if memory serves me correctly, Theta AND McIntosh used Pioneer for their universal Laserdisc players.

The Theta DSP transport was little more than a Philips Laser disk player,with an SP/DIF interface PCB.
Wasn't the Lexicon a rebadged Oppo Blue Ray Player??
