Well that's it isn't it.... if you think you hear it, you hear it, even if no one else does. Which could say more about you than the cable.

Doesn't much matter why though, because in the end you hear what you hear.

What I find is a bit of a problem is not just the guys that put people down for hearing what they are imagining, but also the guys that say those that don't hear it are deaf.

How people react to cables is a mystery to me.

Believe me, I'm far from immune to cable differences. Which bugs me a lot because it either means I have great hearing ( I don't, I'm actually losing it ) or I'm very suggestive.

There is a lot going on when we listen. Sometimes, it's easier to hear the music than others. By that I mean easier to hear the signal as opposed to reflections around the room. I know when I am agitated, I hear the reflections more and have trouble hearing the music. I know if I do not respect a salesman or the gear that is being used, I won't hear what is being suggested I should be hearing. So if a shop started to go "bad-cop/good-cop" on me, there is a greater chance I'll hear what good cop is suggesting I should hear.

Pretty lame audiophile eh?

I think as human beings we can’t remember what the sound was like x number of years ago in our system compared to what it sounds like now in our system due to cables and wires.

I mean most of us have cables and wires that are copper. Copper does tarnish and copper tarnishes with age so almost any new wire or cable inserted sounds different/maybe better.

We just accept that fact, not that age can change the sound more than maybe anything else. This is the main reason I am on a quest to make a technically compatible conductive path all along my HiFI chain and keep it as technically compatibly conductive as I can even with what time will do long term to specifically the wires, cables and ends.

No one could argue against best practices to avoid things like oxidation. Well, I guess people could, if they find that post oxidization, things sound better.
