If anyone is looking for a higher-end CDP/media server, Cary are deeply discounting their DMC-600 for US$1,995 (from US$5,995):
https://carydirect.com/shop-now/dmc-600.html

It supports PCM up to 32 bit/ 384 kHz native audio as well as native DSD 64 and 128 audio.

Supported inputs:
USB: operating Sample Frequency (Fs) from 44.1 kHz to 384 kHz, 16 bit to 32 bit, DSD 64, and DSD 128
BLUETOOTH: Sample Frequency (Fs) 44.1 kHz, 16 bit
AES/EBU, Coaxial, Toslink: operating Sample Frequency (Fs) from 44.1 kHz to 192 kHz, 16 to 24 bit

Analog outputs:
Balanced XLR , Single – Ended RCA

2 x 12AU7 tubes

What I find curious is that it supports DSD, but not SACD? CD only.

The DAC supports DSD but the actual disc reader just uses a conventional CDP laser. Perhaps Cary didn’t want to pay the SACD Tax. It does seem strange especially given Oppo incorporates SACD playback into their players at a fraction of the cost. Or it could be that Cary had a surplus of non SACD disc readers and this is what they used them in.

Wonder what the folks who bought one of these at full pop feel like now...
Begs the question, was it ever worth $6K?

Or maybe they're anticipating the market for DSD file downloads being larger than physical SACDs in the future?
