Just installed Huron in my DSD.
Sounds very different from Torreys. Played for a few hours only, so not really sure as yet.
pls chime in what you feel.

Same feeling here.
Hopefully more users will take advantage.

on the fence, really liked Torrey's, going to give Huron some time on more different types of tunes until I decide, definitely equal to Torrey's, so no loss there, but better? It is different... loved it on a couple downloads, have to try it on some more discs.... so far, so good...

I have installed it and listened to Huron for about 3 days now. I do find it quite a bit better in terms of clarity, soundstage and clearer tighter bass for redbook and hi-res audio files. However, I find my DSD tracks to be edgy and with simbalence and less spatial. I like Torreys a lot better for DSD playback.

I installed it last Thursday night when it was first released. At first the highs were a bit shrill, but a reboot of the Directstream (as suggested on the PS Audio forum) fixed that issue. I think it is a definite improvement over Torrey's and won't be rolling back to Torrey's.

3 months have now passed since I am listening to Huron.
This thing is ruthlessly revealing and pointed out some several weaknesses in my system. So far I have only managed to address my subs.
I ended up adding a second PS Audio P10 feeding my 2 JL Audio F110 subs which tremendously improved the entire presentation.
I am hoping to add a third P10 for the other 3 amps in the near future especially for the pair doing the upper bass notes 100 to 200 hz.
I must insist please try the Huron, it is free and you can always return to your previous version.

New firmware upgrade Redcloud from PS Audio again.
Not sure if the release is in Nov - Dec 17
Anxiously waiting to compare with Huron.

Thanks for posting this, I totally missed the announcement! So glad they've been able to fix the static click when switching formats PCM <-> DSD. That was really my only complaint.

Further improvements is just stunning, I thought Huron was really nice already. I didn't notice a huge different between huron and torreys. Lower floor noise and microdetails were improved but it was subtle, imo.

Hi all,

Just went to the PSA website and I don't see anything about this. Can someone post a link? Thanks

There is no "official" announcement. It came out in a Forum post made by Paul McGowan and since there then has been a bunch of chatter about the pending release. Take a look in their Directstream forum. It appears that 2 releases are coming, one for the Bridge II (which will enable MQA playback via Roon - the Bridge II will do a complete unfold of the MQA file) and one for the firmware for the Directstream and presumably the DirectStream junior). No ETA on either release (which I'm guessing will occur at the same time). I believe one of Paul's posts said a couple of weeks and that was a couple of weeks ago. I'm guessing it will be before Christmas, but won't be surprised if it drags on into the new year since it seems that software updates always take longer than what is expected.

Redcloud firmware for both DS and DSJr. are available.

I use DSJr. and had to downgrade to Yale first and then up to Redcloud, otherwise with Huron installed it wouldn't recognize the USB stick.

Bridge II also has an update that includes MQA unfolding from Roon and Spotify Connect (which I'm loving)!
