I have a Magnum Dynalab MD 208 with the heavy aluminum remote. Recently the remote control stopped working. Changed batteries. Still nothing even when face to face with the receiver?
Any suggestions on how to determine where the problem lies? Anyone in the KW, Cambridge or Guelph area have a compatible remote I could test on my unit?
Thanks for you advice and help in advance.

Point the remote's IR transmitter towards your phone's camera. Set the phone to video mode. If you see any glow from the IR transmitter, it means the remote is sending something. You can use any digital camera to do this test BTW.

Thanks Stone.
I'm hoping it's just the remote! I just didn't want to buy one and find out the problem is on the receiver side. Will report back.

I knew that. Your 209 is the bomb.
I love mine. It's been so good. Love that they will do a repair and up to snuff for $300. That seems pretty decent for equipment build to this standard. Hoping it's just a remote.

If you have a universal remote, you could try setting it up...

I don't unfortunately. My MD remote had 6 buttons. I'm a simpleton. Haha. Thanks for the idea though. Cheers!

I tried the cell video trick and there was nothing.
I'm glad. Now I'll to look up MD and see what a new remote costs.
I know they give rebates for unit upgrades but do they give rebates for remotes?

Larry Zurowski (sp?) he's the owner...go to their website and you can email directly...he wouldn't remember my name but I'm sure he'd recall modifying the 209 I have :)

My Bryston remote has four, so I beat you?!?
Always struck me a funny that my SF Tube pre-amp remote has a dozen buttons, but the solid state pre can't muster that level of control!
Cheers (and good luck!), Dave
