Just finished cleaning this beast up for a buddy who needs receiver for his turntable.
This should do the job nicely. Giving it to him this weekend...I think he will like it.
Beautiful specimen. The sides are REAL solid wood!
I know little about them but the build quality is quite nice. And it is heeeaaavy.
I like how the main caps lay on their sides....just seems different.
Research shows it at 50wpc....likely made by Electrohome...in Kitchener?
Has an interesting "Quadricast" feature on the back. I think that is some gimmicky thing, I don't believe it to be true "quadraphonic".
Anyway, just thought I'd share a few pics.

:D They remind of some Marantz models. My first stereo was an electrohome set-up with a dual 1214 tt. It was a lot of fun. I believe when Planar came out the Japanese lines were everywhere and so the competition was fierce. Clairtone [from Stellarton, NS, was another Canadian co that disappeared. Remember the famous bubble stereos with the globe speakers? :( So cool...cheers, lloyd

if i'm not wrong,Planer was Electrohome's "high end" audio products.supply was not the greatest and not enough advertising was the downfall.i think somewhere in the basement are some pieces from the plexiglass display that was in Dad's store.
