Hello CAM,

I have a lovely Marantz amplifier (1152dc) and tuner (2110) that I've been trying to source wooden cases for. Either original or reproduction. Does anyone have a lead on where to find these or what the going rate is? I've been told that user "BusGod" may be a help with regards to this, but I'm too new to PM him directly so I figured I would ask the boards at large. Please let me know!

There is someone on kijiji electronics out of Ottawa who
advertises that he makes replicas.

I have a friend that likely would be able to do this. He makes many furniture pieces and other wood items. He also regularly ships items to Toronto. Let me know if you would like more info.

If I recall correctly, you have to have a minimum of 5 posts before PM is available to members.
For a global view for search, try HiFi Shark, you might get a lead.
It will cover a lot of common sell sites. You can narrow down by continent etc.
Good luck.

I would be interested in getting a quote, certainly. Would you mind asking him? The originals have a grill as well, so as a carpenter I'm not sure if he would be used to working with other materials like that. I've found one GTA source for new ones, but at $375 a case I can't afford the ones I've seen (lovely solid cherry cases).

I checked, he does restorations but will not build 1-off cases. But thanks for the lead!

He does work with metal. I think the hard part would be finding the exact grill material and finding images that show exactly how they are attached. That being said, I can confidently say they wouldn't be any cheaper than the $375 price you already found. Unfortunately everything is up in price and it becomes harder and harder to make pieces like that at a decent price.

Hi SystemCrashOverRide,
I would highly recommend you do not use wooden cases for your equipment. Heat tends to build up as ventilation is not as good as with the metal covers only. Not unless you have modified cases made where they are mostly open, but cover around the front where you see.
