I'll second the recommendation for a twin-transformer Harman Kardon 930. A stunning receiver, with both fidelity & gobs of power.

I still have my (purchased in 1981) Sansui G4700 "Pure Power DC Stereo Receiver", 50 watts per channel, and AM/FM Digitally Quartz Locked...

I will suggest a Yamaha CR-820 or CR-840 to me they are really under appreciated.

What's wrong with the mighty Hitachi?

My favourites from that time (late 1970s) were the big Yamaha CR2020 and Marantz units 23xx. If you go into the 1980s, I like the harman/kardon 795i and Yamaha R9.

banerjba.....I have a Yamaha R-9 being worked on. The more rare silver faced! Never had a chance to play with it for very long as it had a few issues that needed to be dealt with. Looking forward to what looks like a great little tuner section......Dave.

Once again the Vintageman has another of my favourites. A silver faced R9 - I have never seen one - only in brochures.

It's not fair I tell ya!!!
