Justin Bieber is an arrogant brat from Stratford - so by that logic - are you the same? I don't think you are - and I would not presume that Asian people are more predisposed to going to audio shows than anyone else....and am not certain that on a per capita basis that Asia has more audio shopped t...

This feels terribly misinformed. I’m sure there are examples of this but it’s not the norm. A good portion of this forum is dedicated to showing off gear, I’m not sure how this is different from what you’re suggesting. I would love to see a survey that illustrates the demographics of CAM. In fact, ...

In the Western World, young people are less collectors of things than collectors of experiences. And today, they have many, many more options for their disposable income than the baby boomers and Gen-Xers did at their age. Millennials love music but they don't have the need to own the physical media...

Excellent summary and writeup on the show this year. I would say that Saturday things improved, sound overall got better with also more rooms playing interesting music. The larger rooms were overall quite good today. Overall I do feel that Taves had a great start many years ago at the King Eddy wit...

I was there today and would say that it was a very modest showing of dealers, distributors and manufacturers. I am really surprised that the Canadian manufacturers aren't more supportive. I guess they are focused on the Montreal show. No Paradigm (would have liked to hear the Personas), no Sim. Brys...

Can’t make Taves this year but interested in what people think. Be sure to report back Banerjba. Is your son going with you or you flying solo? Flying solo unfortunately. Junior is in university now. He was home for reading week for a couple of days and we were able to crack open the last Radiohead...

Many of the earliest CDs from 1983 to 1985 did not have bar codes. There are a number of independent issues that did not use bar codes as well.

I stand corrected. 99% of all CDs have bar codes.

The one thing I don't like about using Discogs as a collection manager is that it requires you to specify which particular version of an album you own. I'm not interested in this level of detail but it feels wrong to just randomly select the first version listed. Does anybody know a way to add a &q...

I 2nd natemack's suggestion of adding a second sub and keep your speakers. I run a 2.2 setup. The difference with a second sub is night to day. The subs not only add bass but give a foundation to the music and enhance the soundstage. I previously only had 1 sub , but had always read 2 subs are alwa...

JBL's. I think the JBL's qualify as gigantic in my books. -- 08 Oct 2017 20:01 -- Honestly if you're happy with your speakers just add a second sub. Any speaker you purchase to reproduce bone bass will to be too large for you to want to move it for every listening session...unless it's castered lik...

I have been running a 2.1 system with standmounts (Focal Electra 1008be) and sub (JL Audio E110) but I'm tempted to go with floorstanders. I listen almost exclusively to rock. What speakers that can be had used for $10K or less that aren't gigantic would people recommend? The Sopra 2's are tempting ...

What would you consider a fair price from a dealer buying your used records. Remembering he has overheads and the record could sit on the shelf indefinitely. I was at a Toronto area store recently, chatting with very friendly, knowledgeable owner, and when asked he said he pays thr seller 40% of hi...

These days it really pays to be an educated vinyl purchaser. It isn't perfect but I always check prices of used vinyl against Discogs. I was at the Mississauga record show yesterday and bought 15 albums but my average price was $13. Ouch. Even in the past year, $5 records have jumped to $10 records ...
