Stay away from anything made in China, the variability in the metallurgy in its ability to keep shape and tension is not good.

If you truly want the best sockets you should try to seek out NOS American types such as cinch. Otherwise, Belton brand are a good compromise.

Good luck.

I'd be interested in the pod with the original mechanical adjustment.

Very disappointing show from my perspective- but then I am a dyed in the wool 2 channel enthusiast. Producing a show like this is a monumental task. Kudos to the organizers & vendors for bringing in/ participating in the show for Toronto in 2017. Shanty town describes it aptly. This a calculated...

There have been only maybe 3 techs that I have been really impressed with in Ontario- I haven't tried them all but I have patronized many in over 30 years. George Jackson was one in Toronto - he's retired. The other battled Levinson for me for their complete ignorant and overly complex design and of...

As some of you know I import/export in my business. I have seen quite a number of strange things occurring at the border, especially after DHS came into being. A prime example. Buy a knapsack to send your kid to school; no problem importing from the States....but describe that backpack as "tac...

What about other planers? Would magnepan, soundlab, king, apogee, Martin Logan compare? I heard a pair of 3.7i and was less than impressed. Nkj1, I have both 57s and 63s so I get where you're coming from. I was considering getting a couple of magnepan bass panels to augment the quads instead of goi...

Well there is nothing like Quads. If you've been enamored by the Quad philosophy. No conventional speaker at $4-5K will come close. It depends on your sonic priorities. Many audiophiles have been conditioned to appreciate bloated bass or other anomalies and have difficulty with what Quads do well. T...

It is difficult to sort through expert advice. Try to find someone who has your sonic priorities and has been around for sometime in this hobby as AVguy states. My opinion is this: There is nothing much new in audio in terms of physics or science. If you really wish to learn and become your own expe...

Nkj1 – those are awesome looking. Love the fact you have them on casters. Perhaps share a little more detail – where did you get the frames and bin plus rough cost. Hi there, The boxes I shopped and was able to get a good price at high volume production facility that cabinet shops use. There are so...

I made my own.

The Ikea ones can be disastrous without additional backing.

I like flip through as well - used a welded space frame with dovetail walnut and maple drawers made at a production facility for a good price.

Not cheap but not outrageous either. They will outlast me.

Congratulations on picking up the Leak pair. Leak offered some of the most nicely constructed amplifiers in the day. The amp is a gem. Check for leakage of the capacitors electrically and the ceramic body Erie resistors can be noisy. The preamp I'm afraid, is not nearly as worthy as the amp. They te...

First thing I would do is get rid of the isolation transformer. You are potentially introducing different ground references at the input of that device Second, I would confirm the ground scheme of the xlr on the amp vs. your interconnects- "different standards" also confirm source and load...
