I managed to listed to their TOTL Zodiac at CES, albeit in a poor listening environment.

Just want to know if anyone has heard/purchased any of their other models and has any opinions on them.

I personally prefer Pro V1s; anything less is just low-fi.

DIY'd a nice pair of 2-way floorstanders a couple weeks back. Design courtesy of Paul Carmody.

They still need to be rounded over and finished but they're quite listenable in their current state.

Oh, this seems like it could be a fun little get together if it goes down!

I'm free next Saturday, although my place isn't finished yet so it's out of the question :(

Hey guys, So after some listening tests, i have concluded that these things rock! They beat my polk LSi15's easily for music. That being said, these clones do not have the lower end that the polks do but they do have a very enjoyable bottom end when placed close (4-5 inch) to the back wall. Now aft...

The bookshelf iteration of the Zu Audio Omens would be perfect for you though they don't meet the $500 constraint. You might try looking for a used pair but they rarely pop up in the second hand market. If you're willing to go the DIY route (which everyone should at the very least consider), shoot m...

Assuming an optical cable, no break-in is necessary... If it is a coax cable, the first 5volt pulse down your cable did the break-in. If there was something wrong with either cable, the DAC would not have locked on (Phase Locked Loop). The Mythical cable manufacture is incorrect... Regards Ohms Thi...

Would the bottom end reach be enough to consider running these without a sub in a mid-sized living room, or is a sub or two a must have with these little guys? I am not a bass head, but do like to hear everything from 40Hz or so up. Allen The bookshelves with their 4" driver might not suit you...

Agreed! For what they cost, they have no right to sound as good as they do. Andrew Jones put a lot of care into designing these speakers and while he had to cut a few corners to build them to a price point, you certainly wouldn't know it by their sound alone. The cabinets are very generic but can on...

When it comes to digital audio there are essentially two things to look at. The bit depth and the sampling rate. The bit depth indicates the maximum dynamic range and the sampling rate indicates the frequency response. In the case of CDs, the bit depth is 16bit and sampling rate is 44.1Khz. That gi...

Black automotive paint is exactly what they used to use for finishing "Piano Black" speakers (and they probably still do). Black glossy finishes are absolutely unforgiving of imperfections, so preparation is just as important if not more than the actual finish. The only tips I can give yo...

Don't want to burst anyone's bubble here but there's more to this than meets the eye. Listen to Vince Bruzzese from Totem discuss the care that goes into the manufacturing of his speakers. What makes you think OP didn't put the same care into his speakers? If anything, h...

That's a pretty sweet build! It may not be a like for like clone but one of the great things about DIY is the ability to tweak the sound to your liking. Since getting into DIY, it's become difficult for me to look at commercial speakers the same way. I might of actually bought a pair of Totems a cou...

Pleasantly surprised by the Adsum Audio room. Awesome sound, size, and price. I might well pick myself up a pair of these.

Also really enjoyed the room with the Focal Utopias. They were kind enough to offer a wide variety of music to sample as opposed to forcing more jazz down everyone's throat.
