When I'm thinking is it digital or is it analog, something is very wrong. When I'm just enjoying the music it really doesn't matter. Ahhh , Mahatma -how philosophical. If it's sounding like 'real' music -it must a great analogous rendition. That's (my) entire point. And today, digital (with its imme...
I think that lossy would be loss of information in the compression stage of the format. Whereas, vinyl, r2r are analogue and not just a guess at what bit is closest to that piece of information. In my opinion a tick or pop on an LP doesn't really count. But, that's just ...

I feel that I would have to agree with Rusty. I think that anything Analogue is already lossless. So, the medium itself is indeed lossless. But, I find anything that makes the claim to be lossless is somewhat of a marketing scheme. Lossless to what? The LP is analogue, and as such, should be a fair...

Although vinyl can/does sound excellent (with premium hardware; table/arm, cartridge, phono preamp) in small 'patches' and some genres, today's digital is highly refined -and enjoyable. Not sure a blanket statement like that is supported by reality? Sure, some digital is highly refined, but not all...

I'm looking for opinions on the price level for a turntable that would produce sq comparable to the sound quality of lossless. Thx Not one; too much noise/distortion -IMD, THD, speed inaccuracy/inconsistency -all very problematic as the lead-out groove is approached. And that's with a perfectly 'ce...

Still Prefer Mathew's Southern Comfort's version to those..... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Kn9hi9fAwUQ
I agree 100%. I can't even listen to the CSN version of Woodstock, it lacks so much soul and expression compared to the Joni Mitchell and MSC versions.
I also love Marianne Fait...

PSB Synchrony One beats these and are $2500 cheaper Haaaha -that's funny ! PSB 'Sync-crony-one' (man show) is nothing short of laughable. On the other hand, PSB's long-discontinued (and running) 'Gold- i ' (1991?-2004) was and remains an excellent loudspeaker. I suspect the successor 'Platinum' ran...

What is the significance and what spec to look for. A "high" current amp -is one that smoked (or has been exposed to) too much pot. And therefore, is known to sound 'heavenly' (ethereal), mystical, out-of-this-world. And as such, is highly sought after. pj Depends if it is a sativa or Ind...

Where does my NAD C356 BEE fit in? It lists 80 watts at both 8 Ohms and 4 Ohms. Mine drives my JBL L100Ts very nicely with no issue. A simple explanation would be great as I am not techinally savvy. Thanks Al Compared to the heavy-weights (literally and figuratively) your NAD doesn't fit in. High c...

Yeah...but that doesn't cost anything...and there are no 'bragging rights'...!!!   You are obviously just trolling as you don't believe in cables sounding different. Perhaps you should repeatedly read the new rules for discussing cables until it sinks in: If you do not believe in ca...

Crosby Stills Nash and Young doing Joni Mitchell's Woodstock. You kidding me ? Mesmerize oneself to Matthew's Southern Comfort 'Woodstock'. Amazing. pj (P.S. I guess I should listen to CSN's version first. lol) -- 16 Dec 2017 17:16 -- Lay Lady Lay and Crystal Ship, by the artists you noted, are the...
