kb007, krell amp great choice. ounce you hear them. hard to wanted to go back to tubes. micro detail, dynamics. controle, are just the beginning , it will become like a dependence. The Krell does sound awesome in my video system. The new AR Ref 75 will be for my 2 ch audio system to replace an AR VT...

At CES this year I spoke to many manufacturers about MQA. All stated they will not be supporting MQA for several reasons. Any DAC that can support 24/96 can play the basic MQA file. It's the 'secret up sampling/decoding' that MQA is claiming to deliver the best sound possible. There are many in the...

I recently upgraded my Oracle Delphi to MK 6 spec and it's astonishing. So much so that I'm starting to get the audio version of wander-lust wrt my Power amp. It's an AR VT-100 Mk I, and has been very solid for many years. I'm starting to think impure thoughts about 300B amps and other things. My s...

Bear in mind, to my mind at least, that a $2-$3k investment is a substantial one, and that we all should be critical when evaluating and/or dissecting a products merits and/or shortcomings. I fully agree. However, earlier you made a statement that could discourage someone from bothering to audition...

For readers/those interested, what exactly does "...The Sky Tower has less tonal character than the Hawk, but slightly more than the Sky (bookshelf)" mean ? Clarification required. pj PJ, I agree with you regarding the Hawk. The main take away from that quote from me is the second part yo...

Both mids and highs are faster and more open than Hawk. I wouldn't use airy to describe the highs on the Hawk myself. I would for the Sky and Sky Tower. The Sky Tower has less tonal character than the Hawk, but slightly more than the Sky (bookshelf). If you've heard both the Hawk and Sky and like b...

Well now that you folks have made peace... back to the original program. I'll keep my CP65 and likely get a power conditioner. Thanx Haaha -beautifully said ! Think Balanced/Symmetrical (for pre/power) and either a second (lower capacity; Va/Kva) or a seperate AC-Regen. (such as PS Audio P-3) for s...

Gary: Who knows. Who cares. What's your point ? pj OP might. Would make a bigger difference than any IC power cord swap. Gary " ...Would make a bigger difference than any IC power cord swap." (That sums up your knowledge/expertise on power-supply design) OK Gary -too funny ! (P.S> How did...

He is certainly right. ... The big gauge satisfies a psychological, not electrical, "need". Yeah, I know. I only said "probably right" because that's how I talk sometimes, but it is absolute - 12 AWG jumpers are unnecessary. So... silver interconnects anyone? :) nrg1275, ...

#12 too much -#16 plenty capable -10-amps to be precise. In fact, offer up #18 gauge for this purpose with commensurate drop in price -and perhaps standard copper/gold connectors. pj I was thinking even 18ga was overkill. Depending on how the drivers are patched together, the 6" jumpers might ...

ttt for the evening viewers... allgonoshow: The more I think about the CP-65, the more I'm certain the Shunyata Venom-3 power cord would be a nice match; improving 'speed', clarity and definition (including the often neglected low-frequency definition/resolution) to the proceedings. I have one (Shu...

What opamp's are Classe using on those balanced inputs? Both amp and preamp. Might be a more modern chip available that just drops in. Quick and easy upgrade. Gary It's a fully-differential circuit, Gary. Are you referring to the 'op-amp' (on balanced input) as part of the pseudo/quasi "Balanc...
