I haven't followed the diy crowd for a long while, but Peter Daniel was a very prolific member of the diyaudio.com community and I even think he had a sub-forum over there. My best suggestion is a re-direct over there, as everyone over there knows him.

Forum: General Audio Discussion   Topic: Does a High Efficiency Speaker reveal more than a Low Effic

I didn't read the whole thread, so this could be old hat by now. Hi-efficiency tends to have much higher absolute SPL capabilities over a narrower bandwidth than a typical hi-fi woofer. This means they generally have less low end capabilities unless you put them in huge boxes (Hoffman's iron law). T...

Personally I would install binding posts on the sub, bypass the plate amp and get a pro audio amp of superior power and built in DSP like an Inuke. Then again, I wouldn't buy an overpriced manufactured sub when it is super easy to buy a superior driver and build a box for far less. The only hard par...

let me make you a believer :-) try Immortal - AT THE HEART OF WINTER https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=meIh4oZ-hNs Actually that is very good! Bought it on bandcamp. It's like a mixture of BM and thrash. I prefer non-satanic metal, which is a bit harder to find in the second wave (Norwegian) of black...

I have a 2x4 Ikea unit, this was before they cheapened the design and made it much less sturdy. However, I saw online once a clever idea with the large Ikea unit meant to hold lots of records. The guy added 1x3" wood along the back of every shelf. The added bonus was that it is a stop for the r...

... It's configured to use the file structure //Music/Artist/Album/[Track] [Track Title] Also embeds the album art and meta-data. You must be able to do the same with EAC? ~A I haven't used EAC in ages (I use JRiver's ripper these days since I paid for it and it works really well) but almost all ri...

Just going to add my experience with computer audio. I've used Logitech Media Server plus squeezeboxes for nearly a decade, but the user interface was always left a bit wanting with a HUGE collection of music IMO. I was always searching for something a bit more polished and easier to organize and na...

Yeah I don't really consider Nirvana punk at all. They were more influenced by The Melvins which was the proto-band for Sludge to come, but obviously they did their own thing with that high distortion tone. I've never been a huge fan of punk, favoring metal which borrowed the aggressiveness of punk ...

I am getting by with Lumin at the moment. I was tempted to try out Roon, but it means a significant investment to do so (need a roon server as supposedly roon on my NAS isn't so hot, and I'd need a Roon bridge because my renderer is DNLA). Even if it was just software, I'd still balk at the $500 lim...

Does anyone know where to procure heavy duty boxes and packaging material in the GTA for items you no longer own the boxes for? I am preparing for an upcoming move by attempting to sell a lot of my extra gear, test equipment, diy wares, etc. I need a lot of extra boxes. Wonder if there is a place fo...

I have a ATI AT2007 and love it. I have owned 4 ATI amps and all were bullet proof. Classicaudioparts.com has discounts on the brand and they ship to Canada as I bought the 2007 from them and they shipped here via FedEx iirc.
