I am going to get a network streamer, mostly Cambridge Audio 851N. During my research, I came across that some streamer/pre-amp that can also do the room/sound treatment.
Is this a thing now?
Is it good?
Does it worth the extra?

thanks
Vic

Hello, I have a TV-7 tester and about 100 of tubes in Calgary. I am not sure if my tube tester is dead or my tubes are all dying at the same time. The reading of many tubes are so bad that consider dead according to the TV-7. Especally some KT series tube that only used less than 20 hours or less. I...

Innuos Zenmini or Zen Mk II. I currently use the latter. If you're buying it for an audible improvement. They are still working on their own player software, which is suppose to be around next month. Their control software is great so far and I'm running mine as a Roon Core. Mainly got it for the s...

Gotcha! Missed the OP’s concerns with Google. BUT….who is to say the NAD doesn’t call home with user statistics. If Bose can do it with their headphones, NAD can certainly do it with a device that connects to a PC. Anything is possible. As an Apple fan boy, I am pretty sure Apple will not se...

Why not spend $50CAD on a Chromecast Audio? Can go Optical out, tiny footprint, and functions seamlessly with phones, tablets, PCs, etc. If Spotify is your source and you have a DAC, I doubt there's much difference between it and a Cambridge 851N other than size... +1 totally agree Not a big fan of...

hello, I need a network streamer for Spotify and planned to use my Oppo Udp-205 as the DAC. My question is which streamer to get? The one I have in mind is Cambridge Audio Azur 851N. Since I am new to this area, I would like to ask if there is better option? Other than sound, another major factor fo...

viclauyyc: I doubt you did anything in use or storage that has contributed to the death/weakness of your GL tubes. There are many reports of failures of GL KT88 tubes since they began producing them. Any tube can fail of course, but for a batch of 24 matched pairs to preform as you are describing t...

We probably both got the same bad batch. Funny, as I have been using the Gold Lion KT66 for the last 8 months (about 600 hours of use) and absolutely love them--rock solid bias, great sound and they still test better than new. So you just never know. Buy from a good vendor (like thetubestore) that ...

Hello, I got couple dozen of Gold Lion KT 88 few years ago. When I check it with my TV-7A/U now, quite a bit of them dead or with little life left. So my question is, will tube just die in storage? These tubes are stored in temperature control room for a few years. Only used for less than 50 hours. ...

I have a question. Is the CAM 2% fee included the PayPal fee? Or it is on top? Another thing I don't understand is, why so many people complain about it? It is an optional thing. If you don't like it, don't use it then. This reaction reminds me when the Internet started to boom. When the service pro...

Hello,
I need to replace a pair of power-supply regulator, 6550c, for ARC Ref 210.
Can you suggest what should I get? KT88, KT120 or the Winged C 6550 NOS? The power and driver tube had already changed from 6550C to KT120.
I don't have enough experience for tube rolling. Please help.
thanks
Vic

Audio Research was closed? Always start with the manufacturer before threads... Sorry, I read the manual already but I missed the part. -- 29 Jul 2017 03:02 -- And I might add according to ARC the 6550 power regulator tube can not be replaced by KT120 or any other 6550 variant tube. Meaning you hav...

Please enlighten me.
I have a pair of ARC Ref 210. One of the tube is toasted. Can someone tell me what is the 6550 on the right hand side is for?

Should I replace it with 6550/KT88/KT120? All other tubes are KT120.

Thanks
Vic
