We probably both got the same bad batch. Funny, as I have been using the Gold Lion KT66 for the last 8 months (about 600 hours of use) and absolutely love them--rock solid bias, great sound and they still test better than new. So you just never know. Buy from a good vendor (like thetubestore) that ...

Hello, I got couple dozen of Gold Lion KT 88 few years ago. When I check it with my TV-7A/U now, quite a bit of them dead or with little life left. So my question is, will tube just die in storage? These tubes are stored in temperature control room for a few years. Only used for less than 50 hours. ...

I have a question. Is the CAM 2% fee included the PayPal fee? Or it is on top? Another thing I don't understand is, why so many people complain about it? It is an optional thing. If you don't like it, don't use it then. This reaction reminds me when the Internet started to boom. When the service pro...

Hello,
I need to replace a pair of power-supply regulator, 6550c, for ARC Ref 210.
Can you suggest what should I get? KT88, KT120 or the Winged C 6550 NOS? The power and driver tube had already changed from 6550C to KT120.
I don't have enough experience for tube rolling. Please help.
thanks
Vic

Audio Research was closed? Always start with the manufacturer before threads... Sorry, I read the manual already but I missed the part. -- 29 Jul 2017 03:02 -- And I might add according to ARC the 6550 power regulator tube can not be replaced by KT120 or any other 6550 variant tube. Meaning you hav...

Please enlighten me.
I have a pair of ARC Ref 210. One of the tube is toasted. Can someone tell me what is the 6550 on the right hand side is for?

Should I replace it with 6550/KT88/KT120? All other tubes are KT120.

Thanks
Vic

Hello, I am going to buy some NOS 6550/KT88 from eBay. Since different sellers used different testers, I am not able to tell how much life of the tube left. For example: Seller A has a tube that rated at 77 and 50 is minimum. Seller B has a tube that rated at 99 and 66 is minimum. which one has long...

I will do the steaming thing first to remove the dents. However, the top still needs to refinish anyway, due to the watermark thing. I just bought the Howard Sunshield. Will ask the company if it can use for teak veneer. As I mention before, I will try the Howard first. If it is still not ok, I will...

+1 to revoxb77 and Winter_vinyl I have a pair of Dynaco A30XL the were sun-faded and had water stains on top. After lightly sanding with 400 or finer sandpaper and a very flat sanding block (no finger pressure!) I used Danish oil finish (three coats) followed by a once over with #0000 steel wool, a...

If,as you say, your not confident of your refinishing skills, then try a product called, Howards Restore a Finish. All you have to do is pick the teak finish colour, wipe it on with a soft cloth and then wipe off the excess. You can see videos on YouTube about it and it works. After about a month o...

ASSUMING r Teak oil (my personal preference when working with Teak veneers) with a soft, lint free cloth or ultra-fine 0000# steel wool, then rubbing it in between coats after letting each coat soak in a bit. If the finish does not come back after 2 or 3 coats, it is time to call in the experts. I ...
