If feasible, hard wired clustered outlets.
Eliminating lengths of safety ground shortens loops,less contacts and most likely cheaper.

Should be no ill effects.
Depending on the balanced driver/receiver running unbalanced might bypass redundant gain stages.

Sometimes you have to pick your poison. Distortions based on the fundamental signal are more tolerable for the brain. Broadband,random etc.. noise and distortion not so much. Focusing on one usually raises the other in amplifier design. Adding it on purpose during the recording chain to get that moj...

Really dirty switches,pots etc.. might need initial cleaning with something like Simple Green or equivalent.
Dry it out then a squirt of contact cleaner.
The cool guys are using this.
