The original Planar 2 used a phenolic laminate on top of its "particle board" core, so, depending on the type of damage or stains, most any good plastic cleaner should work just fine. IF you choose to use one that is abraisive (ie: car wax restorers/cleaners), make sure not to apply too mu...

Yes wtf22, I am still alive, but not currently available to participate in the forums due to a couple of more strokes (one on each side of my body this time) this past June. Still undergoing daily rehab and when I get well enough, I will return.

Now, can we consider this subject closed please?

Norm, as with most reputable brands, any Stax products bought from another country that is not the owner's country of residence, carry NO warranty whatsoever, except with the seller. Stax in Japan won't even accept them for service (yes, they won't even fix them and they will ship them back to you c...

Haven't heard that name in close to 40 years from his days in Lighthouse. Thinking back, he will be sorely missed.

Forum: Tuners (Radio)   Topic: Sansui Question....How long is a piece of string?

There is usually a small tension spring on those strings that may have gone slack. Or, as you have deduced, the string/tuning wheels may have become dusty/slippery with age. I have had good success cleaning them with a DRY cloth (NO cleaning products) and a good rub, but the old timer tuner techs ha...

Could be a badly placed/spaced socket from the factory, but for sure, fixing a socket is a bad idea and not very cost effective. Replacing the socket is the best and, bu far, the cheapest route, especially if you have the spare part. Have a tech do the jub for you and let him worry about getting it ...

There is only 1 best headphone and that is pretty much any model made by Stax with the companion headphone amp. Anything else is just a pretend contender to that title.

Period.

I feel like their most logical next step would be to make a network/streaming device to compliment their mostly digital offerings that they are now positioning to be off the desk and on the rack. Agreed, but being German in their engineering background, something mechanical also made sense in a wei...

Pretty sure Schiit is not the family name of the founder. They do seem to have an excellent grasp at marketing to the modern music listener. Good things in small packages, lower entry price points, prompt direct shipping, an upgrade path especially with digital, less is more design. They have my in...

The Sony TC-366 has been out of production sincer 1971, so any 1 year warranty would have expired over 45 YEARS ago. DeOxIt is only sold through specialized electronics stores, not through automotive pars suppliers and is not suitable for cleaning dirty tape heads or anything BUT electrical contacts...

There's a company in Detroit that's making a limited edition TT called the Runwell. The company's name is Shinola. You can see it now...someday someone's going to race these two US made decks. How much you wanna bet the review of that race will be called "Can you tell Schiit from Shinola?"...
