Deoxit D5 should really not be used for rotary pots. It will remove all lubrication and can damage carbon traces. The MG product that is mentioned is one I use most often. But I do use Deoxit/Caigs Faderlube as well. Audiokarma.org has a post http://audiokarma.org/forums/index.php?threads/the-idiots...

In the Ottawa area I would try and track down Brad King bktheking on Audiokarma or LeeStereo. These guys know their stuff and are vintage audio restoration specialists. Worth the effort to track these guys down. Both CAM members. In that Luxman series all the 2SC1345 transistors must come out along ...

If you are patient you will find a donor switch. The first Luxman I dealt with that needed the switch replaced I luckily found the switch in an old NAD amp I had as a parts unit. I also bought a spare recently off Canuck from a fellow parting out a 1120. They are out there. If not sell me your 1120,...

Yes, the power switch is the Achilles heal of this series. The switch is some what unique. It is a two part switch with DC at the back end and AC on the front end. You can't just bypass it as the AC is not just for lights it also sends AC to the protection circuit. The switch has a habit of cooking i...

fyi Leestereo is an expert. On another note doing your homework when looking for a good knowledgeable tech is paramount. About 6 months back there was a 719 listed on CAM that I believe was from a tech shop in Montreal. They provided great pics of the recapping they did. But I couldn't believe my ey...

Very nice! You seem to be tuner rich so if the domestic abuse gets too hard to take you could part with one or?

On more than one occasion I have accidentally closed the tab while I am placing an ad.Therefore losing all the info in the text that I am painstakingly putting together.I put a lot of detail in my ads and the fact that I am a one fingered typer only adds to the angst. A prompt box the states that th...

I'd settle for $10.00US. As I/we likely buy most of our parts in US dollars. Its not getting any cheaper.

If someone was paying me shop rate by the hour for all the time I spend on a restoration it could easily hit 1.5k.
That's why I only work on my own pieces. Then I don't pay attention to the time I spend researching, ordering parts, picking glue and so on.
