Went with this Chinese DAC to run SPDIF audio from my media PC. It's running an ES9028 converter. I have a +-15VDC power supply I'm gonna use instead of the onboard rectifier setup, but use the 9VAC input for the processor... I have an upgrade DEXA 5V regulator to replace the 7805 one onboard. Howev...

Built a Chinese dac this week....using my own PSU for the output stage. Going thru all my setting (pc audio server), I've only been able to get it to lock (48Khz) once or twice... And (probably not related) have no analog output... Metered everything out on the bench and it seems good.... My first e...

It's an impressive amount of detailed work, I do not doubt. Is it done for the love? And what level of hi-fi are we talking at the end product? Better than my ca 200$ Micromega MyDAC, I assume. MyDAC looks like an okay piece of equipment... I don't see what DAC chip it uses...? Or Opamps? Also, the...

Turfed my highly modified Xonar STX and going optical... Mainly because of the implementation of my Granite audio tube preamp and grounding noise. Scooped up this kit DAC from China... Will use it with my custom built PSU and leave off the onboard power section on the board. https://uploads.tapatalk...

Build a real server... NAS, from a cheap, off lease workstation, add your drives (probably more costly than the server!) and install FreeNAS.

Freenas on a small server on your network is definitely the way to go...
No power or motor "noise" introduced into your "player", and redundancy and painless expandability. Use one for music, movies and backups. I'll never be without one now!

That is a very impressive setup. I am sure it sounds as great as it looks. -- 29 Jul 2017 19:17 -- As an afterthought , is that a window behind your setup and if so do you plan on curtains. It is a window, yes... And curtains are there. I wanted the light behind to TV so as to not have reflection a...

Here is my current setup... Geared more toward audio sound quality, but is a complete home theater system running JRiver MC thru a nVidia 960 HDMI output to a 4k Samsung display. All media is streamed from my LAN NAS media server. Highlights.... Custom built externally on a Hammond chassis, SSD main...
