Agree and should be included in the poll. World difference between analog interconnect used between 2 line levels compared to one used for phono

Me too. Other cables have (minimally) changed the quality of sound, but the phono cable made a HUGE difference.

I picked up a Mistral DT-307B the other day from a local CAMmer and am enjoying its nice round sound. It is not as revealing as the Carver CM-1090 it is replacing but, once settled down, it is nice and smooth sounding. The Mistral will be getting a tube upgrade and I'll report on how that goes....bu...

I saw him last Friday. He looks good and is recovering....from a couple of blockages that now have stents. It will take him a while to get back to his normal self but his hand shake is STRONG as always

I told him the gang here wish him the best. He is a really good guy.

best, Tom

It is all about conspicuous consumption. I used to be a member of an exotic car club. Members used to sit around and share stories about how much their repair bills were (no kidding). I still have the car but am no longer a member of their club 8) People drop stupid amounts of money on nonsensical i...

Drop the Paradigm speakers and get something with larger woofers from a long list of manufacturers. I can report back later this week on somewhat affordable Tekton Double Impact speakers and quality of bass. Speakers with side firing woofers could be an option. I'd also try borrowing a different am...

In defence of IKEA shipping charges, have you priced out alternative shippers? You will find IKEA is charging the going rate. Unfortunately. For me, the value of a Kallax (I have the 6 X 6 unit) is worth the additional shipping cost. I have tried others and the Kallax meets the WAF as well as being ...

Adrian, I just wanted to congratulate you in handling a rather "difficult" poster on this thread. You handled the (obvious) attempt to hijack the thread and redirect the handled it perfectly and redirected the poster's comments in a positive way. Well done! And, by doing so,...

When I buy used records I take the into the shower with me a pee on them. Then I rinse them under the tap (cold water) then blow dry them with my wife's hair dryer on cold. They sound fantastic on the Teac Turntable.  Remind me to NEVER buy a used album from you Jim!! A whole new r...

I am looking for a near-field (desktop) tube amp. Need at least one set (prefer two sets) of RCA connectors for source connection. Amp will be driving either a pair of Elac B5s or Monitor Audio Bronze (which I like much more than the Elacs BTW). I am not looking for volume, but more a quality sound....

I just got an email from Drago.....he is in hospital. If you don't hear from him for a little while....I'll give an update when I get more information. Let's all hope he gets well soon! Personally, he has been a great guy to deal with and very technically sound. Just thought those of us in the GTA a...

My wife can tell if I have been listening to music.... :) and she can tell if I have been too busy for a couple of days  . I have 5 systems in different parts of the house and shop. Each one has its own signature sound and application. The ones in the shop have 5-disc CDs so I can dump a bunch...

Rega arms also DO have an option for VTA adjustment. Michell makes a great infinitely-adjustable screw-down adjuster. No need for shims, unbolting the tonearm from the armboard, etc....I use one.

So I see a cambridge audio 651p just came up for sale and my old nikko beta 50 is only causing problems on phono. I am thinking this is a cheap and easy fix that may allow me a slight upgrade over what I have. Thoughts? Steve, keep looking....I had a 651P that was totally underwhelming. There are s...

first let me commiserate with you regarding the loss. Damage like this happens every day. In my business we ship world-wide as well as in Canada. Canada Post have one of the best records with us for protecting our shipments. We, however, do not use them for items the size (or weight) of speakers. We...
