These speakers fall squarely in the "musical" camp. No doubt you'll re-explore your entire music collection with a combination of joy and awe.
- detailed top-end
- startlingly-lifelike midrange
- authoritative and articulate bass (the bass is simply awesome)
These were the most enjoyable speakers I've ever had in my system - and that includes many much more expensive speakers. I'm replacing them with custom speakers that are prototypes for a high-end speaker that will sell for between $15 -$20K.
FINISH:
Vince from Totem Acoustics got a small batch of beautifully striated "tiger-maple" around 3-4 years ago. He used this veneer on a small run of the Hawks until he ran out.
The grain has subtle dark and light striations that is simply stunning (not really visible in photo).
Audiophiles and non-audiophiles alike always comment on how gorgeous these speakers are. The standard maple finish is beautiful but the tiger maple puts the finish of these into another league.
The finish was a $200 premium at retail.
MASS LOADING: I will include the premium lead shot that I mass-loaded these with. I will put into a container and give it to you. This mass-loading is critical to getting the best bass response from the Hawks.
