Description

This Classe preamp is wonderful. It is in perfect working condition. Built in the glory days of analogue audio and many say that there have been little if no improvement since then. Not only does it sound fantastic it throws a massive soudstage that apprears to double the distance between my speakers. The phono section alone is worth the asking price!

I had to replace the xlr connectors on the rear because the originals were the wrong gender. I replaced them with the top of the line Furotech xlr's at a cost of little over $200 for parts and labour. Now the DR5 will work with industry standard interconnects. So this should be a big plus since the original Neutrik xlr's are dirt cheap compared to the Furotech's.


Other reasons to enjoy this amp are:

An excellent phono stage that has automatic impedance matching and adjustable gain resistors. With MM and MC cartridge section and bypass switch for a giant improvement in dynamics depth and image.


Absolute Phase Switch. This is a feature I never thought I would use but now I know about 50% of CD's on the market have inverted phase. So to get just the right sound I use it everytime.


The Tape Monitor loop works perfectly with my music server and allows me to play and record from multiple sources. Another feature that is often missing in todays preamps.

I liked it so much I'm upgrading to the next model up just to get more of that juicy warm and alive sound. This will be a precious and addicting addition to any system.
