MAKE ME AN OFFER BEFORE THEY GO ON EBAY!!!
The SP-X11000 are the biggest speakers ever made by Sansui. The were made from 1979-81. These are ultra-rare speakers and nearly impossible to find.
They are a unique speaker in that each speaker actually consists of 2 separate sections. One fits on top of the other and cennects with a vacuum tubes type socket. They have an efficiency rating of 102 dB. This means that they will play very loudly with even a lowered amplifier. I am currently using them with a Kenwood KR-7050 (80 watts / channel) and you cannot bear to stay in the room at only ½ volume. The only other speaker that I have heard with this type of effiency is the Belle Klipsch (104 dB). Every 3 dB increase in speaker effiency equates to doubling your amplifier power. With average speakers being around 90 dB, a 12 dB increase is HUGE!!!!
These big Sansui’s are 37 ½” high x 24” wide x 11 ¾” deep. Each speaker weighs 74 lbs unpacked. But since they can be separated, I will ship them in 5 boxes (each ½ of the speakers + the grills separately)
Each speaker has 2 huge 17” woofers & will handle a maximum of 350 watts @ 8 ohms. The tops & bottoms are identical & the speakers were designed so that you can use them in a mirrored image set-up. You will notice that the brilliance controls have 2 marked scales so they still look right when inverted.
This particular set is in absolutely PRISTINE condition. You would not believe how well they have been preserved & are in practically like new condition!! All the drivers are original and in impeccable cosmetic & functional condition. I can send as many large close-up pictures as you wish. I did install Vishay Roderstein .01 uF (10nF) by-pass caps in the tweeter & mid-range circuits of the crossovers. I do this with all my speakers and you would not believe how it improves the clarity & detail. These caps are recommended at www.humblehomemadehifi.com and are every bit as good as they say.
I bought these from the original owner who meticulously cared for them. I only purchased them 2 weeks ago – sigh………….!!!! I absolutely love them, but my listening / TV room has limited space. And try as I may I cannot arrange them so that they are in an optimum listening position. I thought I had a place figured out, but they are too close to my TV and those big woofers interfere with the TV picture. So if you buy them, make sure that you have enough room to really enjoy them. At 24” wide, corner placement will be a little difficult as well.
Please feel free to ask any questions, including shipping cost and extra pictures.
If you have always wanted a set of these speakers, then grab them while you can – seriously!!!! You may never get the chance again – they are that rare!!
