ONKYO TX-NR1000 SILVER
$4900.00 USD Retail
Phenomenal home theater sound, cutting-edge digital connectivity, and an innovative future-proof design — Onkyo's flagship receiver has it all! It's no surprise that the TX-NR1000 has earned Lucasfilm Ltd.'s highest honor — THX® Ultra2 certification. That means this receiver has not only met ultra-rigorous standards for power reserves and sonic purity, but it's also got exclusive Ultra2 processing enhancements to make the best possible use of all your home theater speakers.
The 'NR1000 boasts 150 watts x 7 channels of high-current power and two ultra-precise 32-bit processors, which team up to deliver incredibly three-dimensional home theater thrills. Of course, you get a full complement of surround decoding options — including THX Surround EX™ and Dolby® Pro Logic® IIx — that let you transform all of your movies and music into breathtaking 7.1-channel surround sound. Wolfson 192kHz/24-bit digital-to-analog converters offer impeccable handling of all your digital sources. Pure Audio mode shuts off the 'NR1000's video circuitry and other unused processing to deliver the cleanest possible sound. Another high-end feature is digital upsampling, which adds new depth to CDs and other stereo digital sources.
This receiver also allows you to switch easily between two HDMI-capable sources, while preserving perfect picture quality for their high-resolution video signals. HDMI connections are also groundbreakingly streamlined — an HDMI-equipped TV tuner or DVD player can transmit both a high-definition video signal and a multichannel surround soundtrack to the 'NR1000 via a single cable. For similar single-cable convenience with multichannel SACD and DVD-Audio sources, the 'NR1000 also offers two i.LINK® inputs. Most receivers require a six-cable analog connection for such sources, but with an i.LINK-equipped player like Onkyo's DV-SP1000, you can make a single-cable digital connection to the 'NR1000 to enjoy these high-resolution formats in their full audiophile glory!
HDMI and i.LINK are just the beginning of the 'NR1000's incredible array of inputs and outputs. It's also got a 7.1 preamp output, two 7.1-channel inputs, a total of 13 optical and coaxial inputs, 4 digital outputs, 7 A/V inputs, and more! Best of all, each bank of inputs on the back panel is located on its own independently removable module. This innovative design keeps the 'NR1000 extremely adaptable — when new technology comes along that requires a new connection type, you can keep up with the times by adding a new module, rather than buying a new reciever. Now that's future-proof flexibility!
Onkyo's exclusive Net-Tune™ protocol lets you integrate the TX-NR1000 with your PC and your broadband modem via an Ethernet network. Then, no matter where your computer is in your home, it can function as a component in your A/V system. You'll find that this receiver makes the most of the MP3, WAV, and WMA files on your hard drive. You can browse and select from the contents of your hard drive via an interactive display on your TV (requires TV with direct video input), or even on the 'NR1000's front-panel LCD window. If you've got broadband Internet access and a router, you can even directly tune in an incredible array of Internet radio stations from the 'NR1000 — you don't even need to turn on your computer to do it! 30 Internet radio station presets give you fingertip access to your favorites.
This receiver also lets you add Onkyo's optional DS-A2 control dock to enjoy listening to tunes on your iPod® through your stereo system. The DS-A2 features a video output that lets you view your iPod's photos and videos on a TV. Plus you can use the receiver's remote to control your player while it's docked.
Three-room/three-source capability lets you enjoy 7.1-channel home theater in your main room, while two housemates each enjoy a different A/V source in other rooms. You'll need additional amplifiers or receivers in your 2nd or 3rd rooms for this — or if you step to 5.1 surround in your main room, the 'NR1000 can power stereo speakers in your second room. The back panel also sports two separate sets of 7-channel speaker outputs — this lets you set up 7.1 speaker systems in two different rooms. Then, with the push of a button, you can switch power back and forth between the two rooms as needed.
Another of the 'NR1000's cool, unique features is that it gives you the option to use a 5.1 speaker system and re-assign the rear surround amplifier channels to bi-amplify your front left and right speakers. This feature is especially appealing for audiophile music lovers who do a lot of stereo listening. (If your front speakers aren't bi-ampable, another option is to bridge the front channels and rear surround channels for higher power output.)
The 'NR1000's advanced remote offers learning capability, programmable macros, and an LCD screen to provide intuitive control of your entire A/V system. The buttons are illuminated for easy operation in the dark.
