More pictures of the amp are available upon request by serious buyers.
The amp has been priced right & fairly and the 1st $149.99 will take it home!
I don't really think that I need to introduce you to the fantastic sound quality of these vinatge Pioneer amplifiers if you're already reading this, you know what they are all about! This amp is built like a tank!
The amp in this ad does have a few rather minor ''character'' scratches & marks on the face plate & on the couple of the knobs (but no gouges or major dents however). The scratches & marks on the grey color metal case are worse but the case itself is nice & healthy otherwise with no rust. After all the case will be covered once you put the amp in a rack or stack up other units on it & you will barely see it again! Like many people have in such cases (no pun intended!), the case can always be painted using a spray can to give it that new look. I for one have preferred to keep it original with scratches & marks and all. The more important part which is the faceplate & the knobs & swotches asre not bad at all as can be seen in the picture. The amp however really delivers where is counts the very most:
The performance & sound quality!
As mentioned the amp has a dual transformer design (just like his big brother SA-9500 II) & it also features 4 huge ''beer can'' size caps to cut down on cross talk & interferences and provide ample power output at all times especially at high level perfromance. SA-8500 II is only the 2nd amp from the top-of-the-line SA-9500 II model. It is rated at a 60 watts per channle at 8 ohms or 75 watts per channel at 4 ohms (very conservatively rated) with a THD of 0.1 sat the rated power & is powerful enough to drive just about any pair of speakers. I know because it is currently driving my Pioneer HPM-150 monster speakers with ease! This is indded a vey nice & warm sounding amp & the Mark II series were some of the best Pioneer silver era amp to be sure. Being a high end amp, it also has the option of being used as a stand alone preamp or power amp. The amp has inputs for TAPE 1 and TAPE 2 (with dubbing capability from 1 to 2 & 2 to1). 1 AUX, not one but 2 PHONOs (with cartridge load control), & 1 TUNER. There are also LOW and HIGH filters, LOUDNESS control, sound MODe control & a sophictacated BASS & TREBLE double controls with turn overs! The orange piolot lam also works & comes on as it should with you power up the amp. The rear panel is in very good shape & it's solid with all the inputs intact. The pre in/power out jumper were missing so I have just replaced them with a nice pair of RCA jacks which do the same exact job as the jumpers. If pristine 100% looks are not the 1st priority to you & instead the sound is, then this amp is for you.
All the switches & knobs are original & only one of the switches is missing the back plastic cover. All the switches & knobs are nice & quite with no scratchiness & as it can be seen in the auction picture, even the interior of the amp looks nice & clean.
The extra bonuses:
As it is now customary for all my vinatge audio units to come with some kind of a rare extra feature, this amp is no exception. It come with not one but the following 2 neat & rare bonus extras:
1) The amp also comes with a very nice & clean digitally scanned copy of the owner's manaul for the SA-9500 II model which fully covers this amp as well!
2) The buyer of the amp will also receive the digital scans of a very nice & complete Pioneer catalog from 1977 which for the 1st time introuduced the amp & it also includes many, many other audio units from Pioneer's 1977 line up. Very nice & neat thing to have indeed! These will be simply emailed to the lucky buyer!

Canadian vintage collectors take notice: This amp rarely show up for sale right here here in Canada so you can save a lot of money on the S&H and also our high customs/brokerage fees by buying this amp. If you're near by, you can also by all means pick it up not only in the Hamilton area but also in the Toronto west end!
Having said those things about the cosmetic condition of the amp, I myself happen to be a very picky person & all those coemetic issues may not look all that bad at all to the average "normal" person. Despite those scratches & marks, overall the amp still looks very nice & clean both outside & also inside & even from a relatively short distance you can't really see the scratches & marks on it since they are not really all that bad.
The picture that you see in the auction is of the actual amp that you will be buyng!
