Hi All,

I’m selling my Nakamichi CR7 3-head tape deck. The CR7 is considered to be one of Nakamichi's best Cassette decks along with the Dragon. The deck is in great working order and aesthetic condition but has some light marks along the leading the edges of the face plate, and some wear on the edges of the back panel. There are two small dents in the plastic of the “stop” button as can be seen in the photos. While playback and recording performance are beyond any reproach, sometimes the auto-calibration routine will not complete properly with some types of cassettes. I haven’t experienced this issue in a while because I only use Sony and TDK Type-IV Metal tapes.

This CR7 comes with the remote control with new batteries, original user manual, and complete service history since it was bought new at Codell Audio in Montreal in 1990. This CR7 deck was last serviced in February 2018 at NDG Electronic in Montreal (Nakamichi repair center in Montreal since 1993).

In my opinion, the most amazing feature of this deck is the manual playback azimuth adjustment feature, which allows maximizing frequency response regardless of the deck on which the recording was made. The Nakamichi Dragon has automatic azimuth correction (NAAC), which is a fantastic capability with music and high-quality studio recordings. However, the automatic azimuth correction relies on high frequency content to function properly, and some recordings may not have sufficiently high frequencies for the Dragon's NAAC to track properly. In those cases, manual playback azimuth adjustment is the only possibility to correct for poorly aligned recording heads.

Here’s some additional technical information regarding this deck:

The CR7 features Nakamichi’s own 3 discrete (independent) heads, closed-loop direct drive dual capstan transport, auto calibration, manual playback azimuth alignment, full auto tape calibration, Dolby B and C, remote control, fader, auto fade, subsonic filter, MPX filter, memory stop, auto repeat, timer function, type I/II/IV tape selector, balance & master output level.

Please ask me any question you may have and I’ll be happy to answer in a timely manner. Although I would prefer a local sale, the deck will be securely packed (double-boxed) and shipped insured with tracking number if needed.

Please look at my other add, I’m also selling my entire collection of Metal cassettes.

Thanks!
