You underestimate the power of the dark side! Everyone calls these my "Darth Vader speakers" because they just look that cool.
These are extremely rare, obscure, visually interesting and sonically compelling loudspeakers. Made in USA in the mid-90s, the company Artemis no longer exists, but their iconic speakers survive and still create beautiful music. Some have called these "the best monitors of the 90's". Each loudspeaker is over 75lbs, and each stand is over 35lbs. I had custom adapters machined from aircraft-grade aluminum, making these "monitors" into 115lb floorstanders. They have great room presence and look awesome.
This listing includes:
*2 Artemis EOS AS1.0 loudspeakers
*2 custom machined stand adapters
*2 Atacama speaker stands (MSRP $400)
This piano black model of Artemis retailed for $7,400, and the wood veneer model retailed for $9,000 (see this link for an example of the wood veneer model:http://www.hifido.co.jp/KW/G0201/E/0-50/C12-66142-45273-00/ ).
Sonically, these are exceptional loudspeakers. They work perfectly, and the drivers have never been over-driven. They are detailed, revealing, timbrally accurate, adaptable, and have lots of body. These speakers won't romanticize your music, but you will hear sonic information that you haven't heard before. They are not bass-heavy, but the bass is certainly present.
They rarely come up for sale at all. Not a lot of information is available online about these speakers, but some of these links shed some light:
A few chips and nicks in the piano black finish are evident upon close inspection, and the jacks on the back are worn. Some swirls in the piano-black finish, but again not evident unless closely inspected. There is a small tear in each of the grill cloths. Some dust has accumulated on the woofer's lower portion.
The time has finally come to sell these - I'm having a baby and I need to pay off my student loan debt before the baby comes. For me, these are endgame speakers, and I'd be happy with these speakers for another 20 years, but kids and expensive speakers don't mix well - I figure they would be better off with someone who would appreciate them. I've listed them before and had some interest, but I'm finally ready to part with them.
Because I need the funds I am not very flexible on price, but I can be persuaded to include my $1,500 Nordost Red Dawn 3.5m Rev I speaker cables for a small price increase and I might entertain partial trades.
