Up for sale is a rare, top-of-the-line, Sony receiver that put out big sound to the tune of 125 watts per channel WHEN IT WORKED. I bought this unit off the original owner who had already had the toroid transformer replaced after it went. This was a common power supply issue of this otherwise awesome Sony receiver. I'd been using it as my mainstay receiver for a few years now. I had it stored away for about 8-10 months before I decided to list it a few months ago. Interest was strong then and when the first would be owner came by, I discovered why you should never assume what was once working will still be when it comes to vintage gear. She lit up just fine, but there was no sound. After having it assessed, I've decided to sell it as NOT WORKING but with a quote from AmpRepairs.ca ($220 to $250 to do complete diagnostic and fix, he does good work and only fixes what's fixable) here in Toronto. Someone with the electro/audio mechanical aptitude could save that cost, and have themselves a working monster of a receiver. My formerly working loss could be your fully functional gain!
Here are my highlights about this receiver:
- Massive 250 watts of sound over two channels with three speaker outputs
- Two phono/LP record player inputs
- High quality, 4 gang FM radio
