Selling for much more today, years after release, this set is little played with many of the CDs still sealed. I have too many Beatles on various formats so am letting this go. Includes original deluxe package with protective outer sleeve. Everything is in excellent shape including the box.
This stereo boxed set includes all 13 albums plus Past Masters, along with a bonus DVD of the documentaries. It is comprised of the original 12 Beatles albums in stereo, with track listings and artwork as originally released in the UK, plus 'Magical Mystery Tour,' which became part of The Beatles' core catalogue when the CDs were first released in 1987. In addition, the collections 'Past Masters Vol. I and II' are now combined as one title, for a total of 14 titles over 16 discs. This will mark the first time that the first four Beatles albums will be available in stereo in their entirety on compact disc. With the inclusion of the bonus documentary DVD, this brings it up to a total of 17 discs in this box set.
The original Beatles catalogue has been digitally re-mastered for the first time for worldwide CD release. Each CD is packaged with replicated original UK album art, including expanded booklets containing original and newly written liner notes and rare photos. For a limited time, each CD will also be embedded with a brief documentary film about the album.
The albums have been re-mastered by a dedicated team of engineers at EMI’s Abbey Road Studios in London over a four year period utilizing state of the art recording technology alongside vintage studio equipment, carefully maintaining the authenticity and integrity of the original analogue recordings. The result of this painstaking process is the highest fidelity the catalogue has seen since its original release.
Newly produced mini-documentaries on the making of each album, directed by Bob Smeaton, are included on a bonus 40-minute DVD. The documentaries contain archival footage, rare photographs and never-before-heard studio chat from The Beatles, offering a unique and very personal insight into the studio atmosphere.
"For the new remasters, the engineer went back to the original 1960's analog master tapes. Remastering is about working with, sharpening, amplifying, clarifying, and enhancing what are already the settled (or established) facts of the original mix. A listening session in early June at Electric Lady Studios in Manhattan confirmed that this is exactly what has been done. In A/B comparisons with the 1987 CD versions, the Beatles' records sounded more alive, more spirited, with greater dynamic range, and a new spaciousness that was very apparent... These new releases are an audiophile's dream - on good gear, they do sound much improved." - Robert Baird, Stereophile Magazine, October 2009, Vol. 32, No.
