Note: A couple of the pictures show 3 speakers. The middle one is the smaller STS and is shown for comparison and is not part of this sale.

Note 2: The pictures I took make the grills look more grey than they actually are. They aren't pitch black but don't contrast with the speakers as much as my pictures make it appear.

I've had a number of the ST and STS pass through my house over the years both for personal use and to sell. This particular pair was purchased as "open box" from a local authorized retailer about a year ago and have been in use in my living room system since I purchased them. My living room isn't very big and I have a fairly over the top system in my basement that I use when I want to go "big" so these have never been pushed and have been on voltage regulated power the entire time I've owned them. These are mechanically 100%.

I was quite happy with these in my lving room but I've been trying to clear through some things in storage and made a project out of refreshing some speakers I've had since college with the intent of finally letting them go. Once I had them fixed up decided I just couldn't do it (let them go) and the only place they would work is my living room so my sentimental attachment to old inanimate objects creates this oppurtinity for someone willing to make the drive to Charlottesville, VA to purchase a fine sounding set of Definitive towers.

Local Pickup Only
I'm not going to ship these. I've sold a number of these and the STS over the years and even the smaller STS are a fairly serious PITA to ship without the factory boxes ... and I don't have the boxes or any big enough for these. Since it's a local sale I'll be happy to hook them up for a full demo before finalizing the deal. I also have a nice E112 JL sub for sale here that would make a great cosmetic and acoustic match if you'd like to check it out while here.

These are in fine shape with a couple of very minor marks if you look closely. They were too small to show up in the pics I took but since this is local pickup the buyer will have the opportunity to see for themselves before taking possession/paying. Grills are in very nice condtiion with no tears or marks I could find.

ST vs. STS
Whenever I've sold these in the past I've been asked the about the differences between these and their smaller brothers. I've never done actual A/B comparisons but have spent a lot of time with both. Currently using the STS in my bedroom.

To my ear the highs and mids are pretty much the same with the big difference being the low frequencies. Definitive is a great company that makes a fine product (and has maybe the best customer service in the business) but the low frequency claims for many of their products are, to put it kindly, exaggerated. While neither version of the Supertowers will come close to producing useful output at anything close to the sub 20hz figures they publish the bigger ST version do dig significantly deeper and, to my ear, the bass is a little tighter and more controlled.

And that really just comes down to the size of the speaker and the reason I included the two shots with an STS for comparison. The ST are substantially larger which makes it a lot easier to get bigger bass from them. If you plan to always use them with a sub and crossed over at 40ish hz you probably are fine with the STS but if you plan to run them full range for music (or possibly all of the time) you will absolutely notice the difference in the bottom end.

Please feel free to send me questions. Always happy to get on the phone and discuss if you give me a good time and number to call. Check my feedback. Always do my best to try and make sure everyone is happy with anything I sell.

Payment via cash or Paypal. No checks of any kind please. If using Paypal either add 3% or use the "Friends and Family" option.
