Here's one from the vault.
One of the best of the 90's, from a respected electronics manufacturer in NY.
Polyfusion started their operations in 1975 as a high level board and component maker, you send the plans, they make it, along with making and selling some excellent pro gear.
In 1993, they decided to make their own high end audio gear. Amps, preamps, a DAC and CD transport. All of it was excellent, and is a study of tidyness and good engineering. No fluff, no gimmicks. They kept up until the early 2000's, when dealer networks were shrinking and a PITA to deal with. So they kept doing what they always had, making first rate boards and assmemblies.
However if you want a piece of their excellent audio gear, just email them. They'll make one right up for you! Yes they also service all of their gear if anything goes wrong. What a PLUS!
Now this preamp. It's in 9/10 condition, comes with the manual, box, and the optional MM/MC phono board installed.
It can be run at any voltage, instructions in the manual. This was/is a $4000.00 preamp, and surely sat close to the mountain top when new. It still works perfectly, and I replaced the small input memory battery today.
$1100.00. Not much better or neater for the coin. Might add that an RIAA phono stage like this would be in the neighborhood of $1500.00 alone these days.
-OR- one could pay 10x more for a used FM Acoustics preamp with an onboard phono.
