Up for sale is my McIntosh MA 230. I’ve had it since 2012 when I purchased it from McIntoshAudio.com. The McIntosh MA 230 is a tube amplifier integrated with a solid state preamp with 30 WPC output. Amp comes equipped with four electro-harmonix 7591AEH output tubes, two Telefunken 12AU7 tubes, and one Telefunken 12AX7 tube.
In June of this year, I took the amplifier to DeWick Repairs to have a hum repaired, I live two hours away from Knoxville, TN where DeWick Repairs is located. I explained to Terry I was going to sell the amplifier and asked him to give it a thorough check. The hum was repaired, a capacitor was replaced, and Terry reported the overall condition of the amplifier was excellent; near mint. The lettering for the On/Off rocker switch is worn, but all the other lettering's on the front panel are fine. Some of the letterings on the back panel are worn but easily identifiable. There is hardly any noticeable pitting on the chrome and a very faint surface scratch above the ground binding post. The front, sides, top, and bottom are all in excellent condition. The only issue is the glass front panel is labeled with MA 5100. When I purchased the amplifier from McIntoshAudio.com, the original glass was cracked, so an original MA 5100 glass plate was substituted. The MA 5100 glass plate’s dimensions are exactly the same as the 230s. The warm sound of tubes, tight bass and drums, tonal balance, and exceptional imaging has provided an excellent listening experience over the past five years. I'm motivated to sell this amplifier and I'll consider reasonable offers.
The cost to ship is not included in the sale. CONUS and PayPal only. I will drive up to 2 hours from Asheville, NC for local pickup, cash only.
