This is a classic HK Citation 12 that has been completely gutted and fitted with Nelson Pass's complementary MOSFET circuit. It's basically a new amplifier; the only remaining original parts are the case, power cord, circuit board (some traces were cut to accommodate the new circuit), transformers and speaker binding posts. Pass's circuit has been modified to accommodate lateral MOSFETs (Semelab BUZ901 & 906), which are output transistors specifically made for audio. The original 6000uF power capacitors have been replaced with 10,000uF Nichicon Super-Through caps, which are among the finest power caps available today. The negative temperature coefficient of the lateral MOSFETs allowed a high bias setting, so be aware that this amp runs a bit hotter than the standard version. The result is an extremely smooth-sounding amp which will significantly outperform the original. The case has been refinished in gray with silver sparkles, coated with multiple layers of lacquer, and, befitting a Pass amp, the power LED is now blue.
