You just have to read the Stereophile review of this amp here:
And here's the author's conclusion:
"All things being equal, for most aural pilgrims the Mesa Tigris offers more than enough power and dynamic headroom to build a system around. With the sweet sonic attributes of class-A performance, and its ability to morph into a variety of high-quality integrated amplifiers, the Tigris offers listeners the flexibility to adjust for source anomalies and accommodate a wide range of speakers. If you feel the urge to step up to different transducers or source components, the Tigris has the ability to keep growing with you—which is why, at $2495, the Mesa Tigris is one of the most compelling values in high-end audio."
When I bout this amp, the seller had no experience shipping audio components. It suffered shipping damage. (Believe it or not, the former owner stuck the amp in a box and used plastic bags from the supermarket vegetable department as packing. A few of the bags still had onion skins in them when I got the amp. Amazing.)
During shipping, one of the mode mute/operate buttons on the front broke off. This amp has some scratches and minor dents at the rear. See photos.
I took the amp to master tech, Herb Ward for a check-up and update. Here's what he said (in quotes): "in addition to the new mode switch, the amp received 4 power supply caps . All four of the output tube cathode caps were replaced as well ( one of the four was bad, and the other three, well, I suspect it was just a matter of time ) The big blue power supply caps are fine, but the small black ones were of poor quality and not the higher temp rated. So its all good now. Your total costs at this point are $360 parts and labor."
I replaced all the output tubes about 40 hours ago.
You can read the long, informatiove owner's manual at the link above.
Paypal users must pay the fees. Local pick up and cash payment is always encouraged.
And don't worry. I know how to pack and ship delicate audio equipment.
