Beautiful, aren't they? So, why aren't you buying?
As you read this ad, you may be able to find 18Ti speakers for less; but, in the "other" ads, remember you don't get something for nothing. Read what you're getting in the other ads - - scratches, nicks, no grilles, missing grille pegs, or holes/pulls in the grille cloth, and worse. Also, damaged color of the otherwise gorgeous Teak veneer (not Walnut). General poor care; this is why the seller is asking for less than mine. Then, ask yourself, knowing how the speakers should be, is that the condition you really want to display in your home?
If you really want 18Ti speakers, then buy these others instead for $100.00 less than mine. Like I said, you don't get something for nothing - - dented cones, dented titanium tweeter, scratches and nicks. But, hey, they're $50.00 less! LOOK HERE: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Rare-Vintage-JBL-18TI-Bookshelf-Speakers-/172815456937?hash=item283c9a9aa9:g:9yYAAOSwZs5ZjKNi
And then, if you want cheaper, get these problem children:
Or, how about these?
What about these "beauties"?
Do you finally get what I'm saying? Who cares, right? All these sellers have excuses for how poor their speakers look. One seller says: "There is a small part of one surround where the rubber looks a little dry and a small dent in one tweeter but it is not affecting the sound." Just great, huh? Really? What does this seller know about "design" and "acoustics"? What about that dent in the woofer, too? Maybe he's deaf in one ear! And then the seller says: "Grilles are included." Wow, thanks! - - and why wouldn't they be included? Is the seller doing you a favor by including what's supposed to come with the speakers? I imagine you'll find out the whole truth about his speakers after you get them . . . Surprise!! I'd love to read about the speakers after you get them. What is he not telling you? Once again, is that the type of quality you want to show in your home for his price of $500? And believe me, your eyes will go right to those Driver dents, etc., all the time! But, by this time, your money is gone. Oh, well. It's not as if you weren't warned.
Are the tweeters real or the Chinese fake replacements? What else is wrong that you're not being told about? So, go ahead, buy the speakers you've wanted "in like forever" for less money. Again, you get what you pay for. No one gets a free lunch and you haven't discovered something wonderful. With the purchase of my JBL 18Ti speakers, you're buying what you should get - - as designed and pure, genuine, JBL inside and outside - - and that's why mine cost more than you expected, and why my price will not be less. Keep reading - - it gets better . . .
Look at my pictures and marvel over those crisp edges and corners. The faithfulness of design and the real drivers and real Teak veneer. Fabulous! The JBL 18Ti speakers, as well as the entire "Ti" Lineup of speakers, are for the discriminating stereo/audio hobbyist and collector of fine audio equipment. These were made in the middle 1980's when audio had truly progressed by JBL into the Audiophile market; i.e., very High End. True "furniture craftsmanship" these speakers compete for fit and finish with today's more expensive speakers who learned from the JBL process of cabinet construction. Making their own drivers and titanium tweeters, JBL were then, and still are, leaders in Audio with their own Driver Patents, and who also made drivers for many other speaker manufacturers. Highly collectible for their sound quality that continues to successfully compete in the marketplace, where speakers of lesser quality, with fancy names because "Marketing Advertisers" spend lot's of time coming up with just the right name and knowing that people will buy nonsensically named products and sell them for many times my selling price and without true, proven, sound facts. Remember the "Pony Cars" of the '60's and '70's and their names? Mustang, Camaro, Challenger, Charger, Super Bee, GTO, Cougar XR7, Shelby GT, etc., all evoking dreams of power, and being the best in the neighborhood. It worked! The Lemmings all jumped off the cliff. Like my JBL 18Ti speakers, do you have any idea what one of those perfect-condition Pony cars sell for today?
Just look at the names of the equipment being sold here on AudioMart. I guess they didn't use a Marketing Person! Some of those names can make you chuckle, and you ask yourself - "What does THAT mean?" It's all strictly marketing. Who wouldn't want speakers called "Parasitic Drive Source Crown Gold XXIII"? Sounds great, right? Junk that's named to sell speakers. That's it. We, the true hobbyists, have to think of the future and the "Secondary Market" and what name and quality has the better chance of re-selling! It's "JBL." Before 2017, who would have thought that this would happen?
But it did. No other speaker has done this, and continues to do this! This is simple, and evokes the "leader in high end speaker quality;" the most successful name in Audio, James B. Lansing - JBL. Many companies copy, but can't duplicate the patented JBL designs. Which "little" speakers like the 18Ti's are rated at 200wpc? Very few, if any! Heck, the 250Ti's are rated at 400wpc! So, the little, two driver, 18Ti is rated at HALF of the 250Ti speakers. If that isn't incredible and a testament to the JBL Patented driver design quality, cabinetry quality, and sound that IS JBL, then you tell me what is. Recommended reading: "The JBL Story" where you'll learn about these and other JBL speakers used in both the home and professional markets. Do you ever see YOURS or the others in those venues? You'll find "The JBL Story" for sale on the Internet. It's a superb read that includes these speakers and all of the "Ti" series speakers, including the entire interesting history of JBL with lots and lots of pictures - - and many, many pictures of the many different venues where JBL speakers are, and have been, used. Why is that the fact? Also, why are JBL speakers the preferred speaker brand of the recording industry?
JBL Ti series speakers are one of the rarest and most iconic of speaker lines that consistently go up in value each year. When I say "iconic" it's a truism. When you see a pair of TRIANGULAR speakers from a distance, what speakers come to mind? The first thought is, JBL 250Ti speakers, those incredible-sounding triangularly, iconically, shaped speakers that can be identified from the distance of a football field! At the same distance, what name do you think of when you see a tall rectangular speaker? That's right, none. Those tall, nondescript, speakers could be anyone's brand. But, beyond cabinet "shapes," the Ti "build quality" runs throughout the Ti line-up, from the smallest in the series (these 18Ti speakers) all the way up through the ensuing 3 higher speakers, up to the aforesaid 250Ti speakers! So, when you own JBL Ti speakers, you're making a statement, so make sure you care for them properly so that your small investment today gets better and at a higher Secondary Market value with each passing year. Speaking of "speaker shapes," there is one style of shape currently being made and sold so that, when I look at them, they instantly remind me of those first Cellular Telephones of the 1990's. Many of you won't remember, but there was a distinctively shaped Cell Phone made by Motorola that was lovingly called "the Brick." Now, due to the Rules here, I can't say the manufacturer's name or speaker's name, but if you look around, you'll see them and they are definitely one of those rare speakers that you can tell what it is and who made it from a distance, and it still makes me laugh! It's so darned funny-looking, and if YOU know what it looks like, what do you think your friends and family are going to see and say? "Hey, those look just like the old Brick we used in the '90's!!" It's hilarious! It's a giant "Brick" Cell Phone!!
What's really superb about JBL 18Ti speakers due to their 200 wpc ability is that they can nicely play Brahms or Chopin with great accuracy and aplomb. However, where these speakers really shine, and if you've never heard the Rolling Stones in Live Concert, you won't believe how well these little Rock 'N Roll speakers play "Brown Sugar" and "Start Me Up" with such reality!! I'm not kidding; their bass response with those huge magnets, and the titanium Tweeters is nothing short of unbelievable magnificence. Great all around speakers that can be as delicate as you want or incredible "party" speakers with "giddy yap." The sound stage is remarkable. This is one of the reasons why I love and specialize in the "Ti" series. Yes, those are my 2 pair of JBL 250Ti speakers in the background of some of the photos. Read more about those, below.
The price for these wonderful JBL 18Ti speakers are as shown is plus shipping, PayPal Fees, and any other expenses. Such prices, costs and expenses, are FIRM, and all at Buyer's expense. By the time you get them, plan on spending all of your Allowance Money. These are NOT inexpensive as you can see; but look what you're getting for the money.
I don't control the shipping expenses that seem to change by the various companies on a near day-to-day basis - - so, argue with them. I only charge what it takes to ship to your address and zip code that's registered to your PayPal. So, stop asking me "Why" or "How come" or "Can you charge less" or "It wasn't that expensive in the 1970's!!" - - I have no control over it. Stop voting for Democrats like Governor Brown of California who increased the Gasoline Fuel Taxes which, when they go into effect, get passed down to you through higher delivery charges and going to your girlfriend's house, etc. (Oh, you didn't know that little tidbit, did you? How come CNN, or your precious newspapers, or Internet sites, didn't mention that fact? - - The Democrats didn't tell you, or they have downplayed it. Well, just wait until it takes effect in a few months; then, you might come over to the Republican side). How does over $4.00 per Gallon sound? I didn't even vote for higher Cigarette taxes, and I don't smoke! Why should or would I vote against or increase the taxes of something that is properly used and that people like, want or need? You love your liquors, and I don't drink. Would I vote to have Alcohol (Beer/Wine/Hard Liquor) taxes incredibly increased? Not just a few, perhaps, pennies but quite a lot! Well, not on your life! What happens to you, also happens to me! But, Democrats love to tell me and others how to live our lawful lives!! And then they hit you and all of us with higher and unnecessary taxes when it's too late to do or say anything about it! Once again, that was all on the Democrats!! "Tax and Spend" is their Motto. So, stop asking me for lesser delivery expenses - - I didn't do it to you! Write to your Democrat Senators and Congressmen to complain to them. See if they'll answer you. Yea, right. Don't worry about all this stuff, though. You plan on living in your parent's converted garage, attic, or basement for the rest of your life! Yes, your girlfriend or wife don't mind. Can't afford the same things you could buy last year? Can't afford to drive as much as you once did?
